Does anyone have any thoughts on using engine oil designated for Diesel Engines in a spark ignition engine? I have my eye on some "Rotella 0/40 diesel engine oil" for my MiniCab, but don't know if using this type of oil in a spark ignition engine is detrimental.

    Arty,
This can be argued all day long of you want!
Trying to answer your question Specifically,
If your vehicles Specs are included, mainly in the oil in Question,
Then in my opinion, it won't be Detrimental!
My old Buddy Tim always said "Something Slippery is better than nothing at all"!
Specs, and products have changed over the years, and every once in a while we get a wild hair,
to do something, but to play it safe, why wouldn't you just use the Mfg's specs? JMO!

    Limestone:
Thanks for your thoughts. - - I have pretty much decided to not use the Diesel spec oil after reading an article on-line speculating that the diesel oil has a lot more detergent in it, leading to the possibility of washing down the cylinder bores leading to premature cylinder, and ring wear in an engine not designed for it.
I think I'll probably stick with my go to regular "Penzoil" 10/30 summer, and 5/30 winter, with a shot of "Lucas Oil "additive for good measure.
