SunF Tire Experience

    Hello all,

I am a new owner of a 1994 Honda Acty SDX. The question is tires, tires, and tires. For now I am going to run the stock rims. I've been looking at tires and wonder what everyone's experience is with the SunF 22x7x12 tires. Will they run ok on the stock rims? Am I going to have backspacing issues? Are they too wide? I really don't want them hitting the front wheel wells or coil springs. Rear wheel well looks ok.

Why the SunF? This vehicle will see a lot of off road use and thus it needs proper tires (nothing too crazy off road, just need proper traction). I am also aware I can get Yokohama and Toyo tires that will do the job probably just as well. But, I can get 5 SunF tires for far cheaper.

And, another concern, the SunF may not be the best option for on road use.

All responses appreciated. Will update the profile with a pic when I get some time. Thanks all.

    bdot,
Welcome, and thanks for letting us know that you plan on including the info update, you posted at the end!

I'm anxious to hear your results on those tires, for Down the Road!

My experience with cheaper grade rubber tires, on other Vehicles, has not been Good!

While the SunF tires are great for off-roading and cheaper price tag, that's about it. I had ATV tires on my Attack for about 300 miles and couldn't take it anymore. Rode absolutely terrible (my track CRX is more comfortable) on the street and flat-spotted in literally hours. Felt like they just beat the truck up on any speed other than a crawl, although the truck looked bad ass.

I've decided not to go with the SunF tires for one main reason, load rating. It appears the load rating is 35. A load rating of 35 equates to 267lbs. That is a scary small load rating in my opinion. I can, and plan on, placing some load in the bed of truck which would easily exceed both rear tires (not to mention the existing weight of the engine and frame). I really don't want to blow out a tire. For now I am just going with the Yokohama Super Diggers. Next season I'll consider a wheel and tire change again (and maybe a lift kit if that is what I need to help source tires locally).

Agreed on the bad ass look!

    Thanks for your replies. Appreciated.

Agreed. It certainly is/was a safety hazard in my opinion. I also went with the Yokohama Super Diggers, they are by far, the smallest AT tires I've ever seen.
