'95 KS4. Does it have a crank position sensor?

The carb model has no sensors since there is no ECU. The supercharged model has a cam position sensor inside the distributor.

OK, thx again. I had a carbureted Sambar owner not on this forum say:
"The only thing keeping it from starting once was the fuel emissions sensor. I just bypassed it and it's been running fine since."
Do you know where that sensor is, and what it looks like? How to bypass it? I've emailed him again but not heard back.

The only "sensors" on the carb model are temperature switches, which actuate various solenoids on the carb and the fans around the truck. The supercharged model does have an oxygen sensor, but I am not sure how bypassing that would improve anything.

What is the issue here? Hard start? No start? Do you confirmed spark and/or fuel? The other common issue with the carbed Sambars is the fuel solenoid on top.. they fail with age and cause hard/no start issues until they are replaced.

Ran great for 5 months. Lost throttle response suddenly, barely idling. Then no run, no start. Inline spark tester shows good, may be weak. Subbed in a used coil, no change. Plugs gas wet after cranking. Installed reman carb from Japan. Started, ran, for 30 seconds, nothing since.

Did you have to swap over any parts from the old carb to the new? it really sounds like your control solenoid is the issue to me. Perhaps it isnt properly connected since the carb was swapped out.. either that or one of the fuses is popped? There is a second fusebox up behind the battery, one of which feeds back to the engine solenoids.

I'll have to ask my install guy. I remember one small doohickey that came w carb, but I think that was positioned low down on the carb body. It ran briefly w new carb, so fuse not likely, unless it is one of those "good when cold, not when hot, not quite dead" fuses. I really appreciate your help. Where do I look for the control solenoid itself? "On top' ~ right at the carb? Could I bypass it to test?

Or the fuse popped after running for 30 seconds. The solenoid is on the top left side of the carb, near the air filter.. I am not sure if it will run if disconnected, but I suppose you could try.
