Problems with 93 ACTY dying

I have a 1993 Honda Acty that has worked great for the last year, but a couple months ago, as the weather got colder here in Oregon, it started having issues with dying when giving it gas. Right now, first thing in the morning, it will turn on, idle fine, and run fine when driving it. After 5-10 minutes of idling or driving however, it will start to immediately choke and die when you give it any gas. The idle will also get a little rough at that time. A few times of turning it back on and trying to give it gas will then eventually get it to the place where it won’t turn on anymore (but fine the next morning).

I read about a similar issue on the ACTY forum that several people had experienced and fixed it by replacing the carburetor air vent solenoid or fuel vent solenoid. I purchased both and replaced them in my ACTY, but unfortunately has made no difference. I’ve confirmed both those solenoids are receiving power correctly.

I also did some basic maintenance items: changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, and topped off the coolant.

Does anyone have suggestions for what to check/try next? I’m not much of a mechanic, but generally can figure out to remove/replace/repair things given some time (getting that carburetor out was a bitch though).

    Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

Nope, still haven't resolved it Kealey. I actually brought it to a local mechanic . . . who has now had it for over four months and still hasn't figured out the issue. Sigh.

make sure coolant is flowing through the choke thermostat assembly for it to function, and that the spring works on the choke flap

catalytic converter might be clogged up?
