Under Bed Storage

I hate having stuff laying around the cab, and since the cab of these Mini Trucks is so small, I decided to add some under-bed storage.
I found some 50cal. ammo boxes that were about the right size and shape, so that's what I used.
I was originally going to paint them white to match the truck, but after installing them, now I'm not so sure.
    What do you guys think?

Nice job, I might copy that. I would leave them like that.

I like that too. Creative. I may copy as well. I have a smaller ammo can that I may try to configure into a center console of sorts. I'll post photos if I do

    Arty,
I'm with you! I can't stand having stuff all about. With that being said, a friend of mine, as a favor, made a custom diamond plate aluminum, box, per my measurements, and all I have to do is install it, in the same place that you put yours! Did I mention that its on my list of things to do?

They don't seem to be the metal .50 caliber ammo boxes. Are they the composite (not sure the material) versions? Our local Harbor Freight even started selling "ammo boxes", not sure I trust those though. Either way, solid idea because other than the bed, there's zero storage.

You're right. - They're composite. - I kind of like them, because they won't rust.

I might have to copy your idea about the console!

They do look nice, and seem very practical! There's also an advantage to two separate compartments!

Leave unpainted , blends in better and less of a “ look at me” for unwanted removal of said items in them by the local “winners”

Yeah as much as I like the Shiny Chrome looking diamond plate look. When I do install mine, I'll probably, use some white vinegar and prep it for a Camo style paint job for Hunting Camp! Different strokes!

I think they look fine, I wouldn't paint them.

I might even go with a plain dark color like yours are, to work for me!

I like the idea. When I finally get my truck I'll probably copy it too. Thanks for sharing!

I like it!! I also agree with the others, I wouldn't paint. My Suzuki Carry has the factory "tool box" on the left side beside the battery box and I keep ratchet straps and hitch ball in it. I may steal your idea for the right side of the truck. Ya can never have to much storage space.

How were these installed? Did you screw them right into the frame or something else? I can't quite tell from the pic but they look great!

I screwed them into the frame using self tapping screws, but because the ammo boxes are plastic, I first cut two pieces of 1" "C" channel about 9 inches long as re-enforcement for the boxes, drilled two holes each to accept the screws/bolts, and then screwed them to the frame rails.
