My acty is on its 7252 mile boat trip from Kobe, Japan.
It doesn't have a/c and I'm not finding any kits, just parts. Has anyone added an a/c to their acty? Would a civic a/c work or is it too much of a drain on the motor? Does anyone have an alternative like those portable air coolers?
    Thx, Chris

My Subaru has factory ac. Don’t often use it though. Robs too much power from the engine. Even in hot weather I find that the minis are reasonably comfortable (temp wise) compared to a conventional American vehicle. My Acty is pretty much a daily driver and I’m usually comfortable in it during the summer months.

chris, year built, model? Click on top right on your name, it opens you information page, add there under signature all the truck info. Look at mine and a few others as examples. Then is enough information there that if you need help, members can offer better, more informed advice.
My 1997 HA3 2WD Acty truck had the factory AC installed. Part of that was installed under the driver seat, here you can see all parts needed for the original one based on the chassis no. of my 1997 HA3 https://honda.epc-data.com/acty_truck/v-ha3/27518/
Problem will be to find something that small to fit into your truck from another car, and as trktrd mentions, it robs power from the engine.

Thanks, I added my signature once; I guess I didn't save it correctly.

Cool. I'm in L.A. (Lower Alabama)!

  9. honestly it wouldn't be worth the effort. I agree with the other comment it robs too much HP that even on the hottest days im just windows down. you should also have under dash air vents you can open to get fresh air.

I've been driving the Acty since May and you're right, it's not bad! I never had a vehicle without an engine in the front. It really makes a difference.
