Mikuni 2x3 choke

Discussion in 'Suzuki Carry' started by Parker H Thompson, Apr 24, 2021.

  1. Rebuilt the mikuni carburetor on my dd51t, im needing some help on the choke actuator and possibly some detailed pictures on how it's supposed to be.

Having an issue with the choke plate having very little resistance, and will not open when warm.

It's causing my carry to flood out and not want to idle at all. It'll run fantastic if I push the choke plate in to about 3/4 choke and wide open choke. Purrs like a kitten on that.

I'm leaning towards either the check valve went bad between the "a" port and the diaphragm. But also curious to see if I put it back together correctly.

    Any help is much appreciated!

  2. Update. I searched and searched some more to see where I could end up. Found out previous owner plumbed the vaccum lines wrong.

Still no change. Adjusted the choke plate wide open, or so I thought it was. No change in plate. I must be missing something on the choke linkage somewhere.

For now, I'm pulling the choke plate out since I don't really need it this time of year in texas. I'll report back after my findings hopefully..

  3. Pulled choke plate. It starts and runs. Gotta bleed air out of cooling system now.
It's still hard starting, but will crank up and idle for a little while. Back firing through the carb a little bit every now and then. Not sure what is going on with it.

Still needing a little insight with it. All that I have read have been adjusted, just isn't working quite right. Anyone local to Dallas that can help?

  4. Update again.. found a ton of vaccum leaks around the intake/ lines. Replaced all the lines and routed them according to spaners diagram! (Thanks dude)

Made 2 new gaskets for the carburetor insulation block, and reset the valves. Purrs like a kitten now.

Time for the next project on it. Winch and springs.
