    Hello!
I will be doing an oil change pretty soon on my Daihatsu Atrai, my questions is: what kind of oil do you guys use? what brand? and what is the oil capacity of a 660cc Engine?
    thank you so much!

print this out, vehicle name, engine cc, model, engine type, built year from - to , normal viscosity, standard/API, high grade, oil volume without oil filter change, oil volume with filter change
    https://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/product/oil/list/daihatsu.html
    standard 7.5W-35
    API 5W-30 SN
    high grade TURBO-R 5W-40
API SN PLUS is a new motor oil specification developed for turbocharged engines that is being developed in response to automakers request for motor oils that protect against Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI).
In 2010 the American Petroleum Institute introduced a new engine oil category under the name API SN and a new supplemental category called Resource Conserving. The API SN category is an improvement over the API SM category in the following areas: High temperature deposit protection for pistons. Better sludge control.

I use full synthetic 5W30, typically Penzoil, but that is because my parts store has it on sale most often.

With the Turbo, you need a grade for turbos, which has anti coking characteristics. All turbos leak a bit of oil past the seal in the turbine housing into the air stream on both the exhaust and intake side, regular oil will burn on the exhaust side leaving a deposit (coke), and gets mixed with the air fuel charge on the intake side. They also get the oil in the turbine bearing very hot on shutdown, and it can coke there. So, the turbo oils have the anti-coking and anti detonation characteristics.

The turbos generally have a bit more capacity than the trucks, but it will be just over 3-quarts if you do the filter.

I keep the extra from the oil fill, behind the passenger seat, with a Velcro wrap around it and the jack handle to keep it upright. Makes it really handy for topping off the oil if needed. Look around, you can probably find somewhere a little less convenient to store it in your van.

You might want to add a bit more information, on your van to your signature. The different EF (660cc) engine series have different capacities and requirements, and knowing which series of engine and transmission you have helps give you better responses when you ask questions.

    Thank you so much!!
i will edit my signature to include more info on my van, thank you!!!
I went through the list that shogun provided but my engine is not included in there, my engine code is EF-XS
thank you once again for all of your precious info

After working at the automotive mechanic trade for 38 years and now retired but still as interested in learning more wherever or whenever I can, I use Mobil 1 and a Wix oil filter for all my engines except my shovel head bike where I’m using 60 straight weight. Wix makes ,imo, the best in oil filters and the Mobil1 oil is actually the only oil recommended for many aircraft engines. I like the sludge fighting properties along with how my engines sound with it used in them. Just my opinion and suggestion.
    I’m using 10W30 in my 1994 Hijet S110P 660. It takes 3.1 litres.

User manual of my new 2021 Hijet with KF-VE4 engine says I should use 5W-30, change interval 10.000 km, in case of heavy condition use every 5.000 km.
On my 1988 BMW E32 V12 M70 engine I use Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-40, quote from Mobil site: Helps extend engine life in vehicles with over 75,000 miles. Features and Benefits. Mobil 1 High Mileage motor oils are made with a proprietary blend of high performance synthetic base stocks fortified with a precisely balanced component additive system designed especially for higher mileage vehicles. Mobil 1 High Mileage motor oils are recommended by Exxon Mobil for high mileage vehicles even those that have used lower quality conventional oils.If your engine has excessive sludge deposits due to less-than-adequate maintenance practices, Mobil 1 High Mileage can help by reducing the sludge left behind in your engine. For severe cases of sludge, short oil change intervals (3000 - 5000 miles) are recommended by Exxon Mobil for the first 2-3 oil changes as reduction of the sludge takes place.
