Looking for a new voltage regulator

I recently bought one on line thinking it would fit but after it arrived I quickly realized it is not quite the same and won't fit. Hard to find a voltage regulator but after lots of searching and looking at the pictures very closely comparing to mine, I think I have found a cross reference that will work.

The number on my VR is MIS 126000-1040. I can't find that number anywhere but I am pretty sure MIS 1260000-0720 and IN 253 will work. I found one in the states for $12.17.

Has anyone had any luck in the past?

Well that part came in and it fits perfectly, unfortunately it is not the issue, so getting a used alternator out of japan is my next move.

you don't have alternator rebuild shops up there?

what is the problem? Does the alternator not produce enough V? Is the battery light on in cluster with ignition on and then disappears with running engine? Alternator needs exciter signal, some info here https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/134952-no-battery-light-dead-alternator/
Beforward in Japan has used alternators https://autoparts.beforward.jp/sear...rivals&limit=20&direction=desc&list_type=list
or a local alt repair shop can help. I once had a problem with an alternator, it produced only 10V and the battery light was dimming, turned out that 2 diodes in the rectifier of the alt were dead.

We used to have a starter / alternator repair shop here but the old guy retired and no one took over. These days it is almost the same price or less to just go on Rock Auto and get an alternator delivered to you door so those shops are becoming more and more scarce.
The alternator was only producing around 4 v when you reved the engine up. I will be going to BeForward for a replacement.

Not sure what alternator you have. The one used on the Hijets is also used on some Chevies, and a host of small and medium tractors, and can be bought in 35 to 40-amp versions at nearly any parts house, particularly if you live rural, and they are selling parts for equipment. Have you tried just taking it in hand and 2walking up to a pats counter during a slow period when they aren’t busy.

And, the one on the Hijets is called the ‘Mini Denso”, and just about every online racing shop, and Amazon have them available online for around $100 to $150, depending on show many amp output you want. I upgrade mine to a 90-amp unit, and it set me back $135.

Do you know who manufactured yours? Denso makes a bunch of the alternators. And, you can find just about anything you need to rebuild one online, including new windings, and bearings.

It is a Denso. I will look into it a bit more online.

Just did a search for Denso followed by the regulator part numbers you listed in the opening post. It appears to be one to fit a Mini- Denso Post a picture, and Ill tell you if can confirm.

I will get that a little later today. I know many don't have the same mounting configuration.

Yeah, Denso has a lot of configurations.
