Didn't even realize this came w/ a cover. What parts would i need to replace? Or should i just replace the whole thing? Also side question but what is the liquid container called so that I can find a replacement for it also.
search here for the drawings and p/n's + priceswith your chassis number https://honda.epc-data.com/acty_truck/ for example: The coolant expansion tank is called based on my VIN 19101-PN3-000 tank, reserve https://honda.epc-data.com/acty_truck/v-ha3/27512/electric/37559/?p=6&fromMap=1 item 8 31531-SJ6-030 cover, battery then you need 2 x 90134-SJ6-000 bolt, battery cover and also the metal bracket which holds the battery in place, items 5,6,12 click on required item numbers and then always a new pic will open with the part number from Honda and the price. here you can see the bracket holding the battery https://robrobinette.com/Honda_ACTY.htm But the battery box as a hole I would repair and enforce, looks like the battery will soon drop down on the floor even more as the bottom plate is corroded. Maybe DIY from some aluminium sheet is possible, I would make it DIY, nice alu box. Bookmark that EPC catalog, you will need it often https://honda.epc-data.com/acty_truck/
This is a great site and resource tool. Thank you for your constant contributions to this board. I am super grateful.
has anyone tried to replace their Acty HA4 coolant overflow with something like this? (Amazon $40) Or any other alternatives? I just repaired mine with some epoxy, clear Gorilla tape and a hair dryer... not sure how long that's gonna last... and I have a hard time thinking about the shipping costs from Japan for an OEM plastic coolant overflow, that is just going to crack again from exposure or other damage. I feel like I could bolt this on and edit my battery cover. https://www.amazon.com/gp/slredirec...&pd_rd_r=d2a7528f-d9bf-443c-b271-66f7318184b0
original is a very simple tank, 2 hose connections, that one you found looks good, but maybe you find something cheaper somewhere in a gardening tools or fish pond shop, here pics of the original one https://www.amayama.com/en/part/honda/19101pn3000
@shogun - you are always on the spot! thanks. my repair job seems to be holding for now, so I may try a couple of things and let everyone know what I figure out.
Looks like a polyethylene tank. Poly does not like to be glued, almost nothing will actually stick to or melt it. It can be welded with a hot air gun or soldering iron though. There are welding kits on Amazon, eBay, and Harbor Freight. And, I would go hit a pick-a-part yard and see if you can find something close which will fit. It just has to be close in size, and mountable on your truck. And, you can usually unbolt the mount and get it with the tank.
These guys are in Houston, TX. The battery cover also helps with exposure as well. https://usminitrucks.com/parts-store/ols/products/honda-acty-radiator-overflow-reservoir
thanks, @AttackCRX , but it is still hard for me to swallow $100 to get one to charlotte. I know that sometimes we have to pay a premium for parts, but there is just something about that simple plastic jug that just irks me... My battery cover is in good shape, so a replacement will last me a good while, and I will probably bite the bullet. MayberryMiniTrucks.com told me they just ordered a bunch from Japan, that will be on a shipment with some trucks, so i will probably wait and hope my repair job lasts until those arrive. They are here in NC, so at least shipping will be a little less.
I'm right there with you, it'd hard for to do as well. Although not having one would be worse, I like things to work correctly and will spend the money to do so. Thankfully, my truck already has both the OEM battery cover and coolant tank.
Yeah, you're right on that note! Can I ask a favor? can you get a photo of the the coolant tank lines? I haven't been able to find one, and mine only has one, but @shogun mentioned that it should have two, but i cant find anywhere that the second line would run to.
The second line to to dump any overflow from the catch tank, and route it somewhere so it doesn’t run all over the truck. On my Hijet it goes straight down.
My 1997 overflow tank looks like this https://autoparts.beforward.jp/detail/Cooling-Components/Coolant-Reservoir-Tanks/PA36076938/ https://autoparts.beforward.jp/detail/Cooling-Components/Coolant-Reservoir-Tanks/PA24346750/ the tank cap has 2 hose connections, 1 is connected with the cooling system with a hose for "breathing", that connection goes down in the middle of the cap and inside there is another hose connected which goes down to the bottom of the tank so that it can suck coolant when needed. The cap has a gasket with 2 holes, so that excess coolant and air can leave thru these holes into the pipe of the 2nd connector, and that is open. That connector is the one connected towards the outer diameter of the cap. item 7 cap 19102PN3000 item 8 hose inside the tank 19103PN3000 item 11 the gasket of the cap 19108PN3000 https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/gen..._k$&vid=119004&cid=183&uid=4553&q=HA3-2330294
@Adam C Spry Here's the pics, sorry it took so long. Mine appears to be missing the overflow hose that just runs to the ground, easily rectified with the appropriate size vacuum hose. Nothing I'm worried about since the tank doesn't need to be full anyway.
design is same like my tank, on my one there is also no overflow hose connected, and that is original, so if there would be overflow it would "splash" against the battery cover inside.
My coolant tank busted the day after I got it home and I couldn't stomach the price or time for the tank either @Adam C Spry . I bought this from Advance Auto for about $10 https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p...1JI5M1YHp2BBOgE4qURoCcV8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds I just drilled a hole in the lid that came with it to stick the original hose down. The mounting bracket I bent 90° down so that it would engage in the mount like the original tank. It wasn't a perfect fit since the bracket is not a wedge shape, but it will support it. I then put the zip ties just to keep it from wobbling around. The tank is wider than the Honda one, but I slotted the batter cover holes just a bit to shift the fit. I only went as far as the nub on the back of the cover that engages with the battery box would let me and still grab. It bows out the cover over the tank, but it doesn't bother me too bad for my purposes.
my epoxy + gorilla tape repair job is still holding on the original tank, but when it finally goes, i will probably find a similar "creative" solution!
I have a friend, that we do things for each other, and when I'm ready, I'm gonna have him make a custom, diamond plate, probably 1/8 inch - 1/4 inch, Aluminum, battery box, with a cover!(FREE) Just haven't got around to it! Limestone
