Just got my 89 Hijet. Love it, and I'll love it more when I sort out all the ins and outs. Cheers

    Albert,
Do you know any history of your Mini truck! How many miles on it? I see it's a right hand drive. My advice would be, to go over it as much as you can, and learn it as much as you can! Remember, no Questions are stupid! We all started in the Same boat! I'm big on preventative Maintenance! Your Mini is like mine, except yours is right hand drive. One of the first things that I would do is, remove the Fuel Tank Drain plug, quickly, with rubber gloves on, and an OIL Drain pan under neath it, to drain any dirt, gunk, and water from the bottom of the Tank! There's a good chance that it was never done! Be prepared as the rubber gasket is probably shot, or will be, and a new one on hand, even some fuel resistant goop of your choice, on hand might be a good Idea! You can then, pour the contents in a glass jar for observation, and it will tell you a lot! Remember water is heavier than fuel! I would let it set a few hours, even over night before I did it, to do a better job! Then I would replace the fuel filter, even if the one that's on there is new! These are things that I would do. Just suggestions! Air filter, oil filter and oil, are all common things that I'm sure you've already thought about, or have addressed. Look and see where the air filter vents into the frame rails, and follow those paths, and clean them out thoroughly! Mice, spiders, and the likes, like to make nests, and cause problems! These are just the basic few things that popped in my head. Good Luck!
