    Hi All,
I recently bought a JDM 1993 Toyota LiteAce pick up. It is a low milage former Japanese “firetruck”. It currently has 17,000 km which is roughly 11,000 miles. It has a carbureted 1.8 liter 2Y gasoline engine, 4x4, and a 5 speed on the column. It is very fun to drive, and I get funny looks and thumbs up all the time, and can’t make a trip anywhere without people asking questions. It runs well, but does have a few quirks I will get to in a specific post. Hoping to find out where others buy parts, gain knowledge about tuning the carb, etc.

Hey OrangeCrushCJ7 welcome to the forum, I really like your ex-fire truck, looks good in red. I went with a 2002 Mazda Bongo (same size) truck, 1.8L, gasser when I was importing 2 years ago. "Sarge" has been a great truck and I haven't needed too many parts but the few I did (filters and such) I had no issue going through megazip.net (Japanese company) and would recommend them... if you can't find parts in North America that is.

Thank you. Sarge is pretty sharp looking! I like the green color. I will check out megazip. I don't need much yet (knock on wood), but I would like a new air filter and possibly a new distributor cap. there is a slight hesitation in damp weather that I think may be a cracked cap

Thanks. Best of luck with your slight hesitation issue hopefully it is something simple enough.

Cool truck! I've never seen a 5 speed on the column before, though I've driven a 3 in an old chevy. Does it shift pretty smoothly?

Now that I am used to it, yes. Finding third is tricky. It is geared very low. Almost don't need 1st. Has something like 5.09:1 in the rear end.

The 5 on the tree is something that you need to play with a bit cause it different. I messed around with a fire truck like that and when there’s no kms they are nice and tight . Unlike the old worn out 3 on the trees where every bushing had dry rotted and fallen out before I was born . Looked and felt like you were flinging a broom stick around in the cab while driving and :D
