    Howdy folks,
So I’m new here and looking to get information on my new to me 1998 daihatsu hijet s110p.
It has a hydraulic dump bed, five speed trans. and air cond.
Just looking to get simple knowledge, like timing degrees and if anybody has found an interchange for an oil filter that I can buy at the local parts store.
Also I’m looking to replace the front struts and springs. So if anybody has a line on those things. I’d like some help. Sorry for sounding so needy right out of the gates.
Thanks guys... and gals if we have any in here. Got to stay PC

Welcome aboard. Most of what you want to know is already here, just have to dig it out.

Welcome aboard. I have a 94, s110- PickTipper/Dump. So, our rigs are pretty similar.

If you do a search, you’ll find that I have done several postings on springs, and the front struts. Basically the springs are 2.5-inch ID, by 10-inch springs for coil over shocks. Jegs, and Midway both stock them. Midway has the better search engine.

I put variable rate springs on mine, (225/475-lbs/inch), because I run a plow on the front, and that adds quite a bit of weight on the front for about a third of the year. If your not going to run a plow, I’d recommend the 140/250-lbs/inch version, as it is closer to the 115-lbs/in that was stock.

Thanks everyone I will start doing the research. Has anyone found a strut replacement that is not $400 plus a side?

You can get KYBs out of England, for S80 series. I have heard the mounting for the brake hose is slightly different. But, that folks have successfully mounted them.

I’m looking at adding an external shock to mine, and leaving the weak stock strut as a guide bar. The struts will maintain the suspension geometry long after the dampening portion fails. So an additional shock can handle the dampening. It will add to the sprung weight, which would be a big no on a high speed performance installation, but fine for low speeds I run mine at.

Limestone got a set of the S80 series struts out of England, and mounted them up. He probably has the information from that purchase.

You will be adding a bit to both sprung & unsprung weight but as long as you stay with at least 40/60 shocks should not adversly affect handling. just ensure there is no obstructions during all phases of operation.

Hey Guys, So I am still going through the posts in the forum and have not run across the timing specs. for my sp110 660cc engine.
I had a problem with it dieseling after shutting the engine down. I found out that running 93 octane fixed the problem.
Then this morning I read that they require Hi test gas.. This is my second mini truck, I had a 1998 back in 20012 put a two inch lift on it then added 25x8x12 artrax
tires on the front and 25x10x12 on the rear. the lil truck would have climbed a tree if I would have let it. My old truck was just the base model I guess because it was
only a 4 speed w just heat. My truck now has the hydraulic dump body,5 speed trans and a/c. My dog and I love it, The wife isn't so excited.

    Paco,
What is the difference between 93 octane gas and Hi test gas? I'm not sure I know the difference! I thought , they were one in the same!

    Paco,
Like Jigs said, KYB struts out of the UK, off Ebay. KYB#633118,#633117! $63.00 each, plus $20.00 to ship! They worked out well. These were the struts without springs. (Not pre loaded with springs) I got the springs from Summit Racing, Qa1, like jigs, I too rigged it for a plow!

Howdy Guys, So I have found a fix, around 300 bucks Two front struts with springs n a set of rear coil over shocks for the rears, that I have not yet installed yet.
grabbed them off an Ebay seller They are for a Hyundai Veloster, Maxpeedingrods-ca is the seller.
he has them listed now for 279.00 reg 509.00 thes are gas shocks and adjustable dampening. I installed mine in about four hours with minimal modifications mainly to the top tower mounts had to re locate the holes and had to drill out the lower strut mount holes to 1/2'' cause i used new grade 8 bolts and nuts.
If I can figure out how to post pictures on here i will. so far it seems like a good fix... Later Paco
