I am new to mini trucks, I have a piece of property in the mountains and I am always cutting trees, gardening etcetera and was looking at things like John Deere Gators or Kawasaki Mules and found one of these little beauties for sale locally. I was interested but let that one go. Recently I realized it was time to seriously find one. I located a dealer about an hour away, locked into one and bought it. 1991 Subaru Sambar Dump. Naturally aspirated basically no frills, just what I needed. Of course being almost 30 years old it has some issues which I will research and post about if I can't find the answers with my less that stellar search skills. I have been a gearhead my entire life but basically focused on special interest cars interspersed with a few trucks. This my 1st vehicle without 8 spark plugs in a long time. I am a career Marine mechanic so I know my around tools and motors but will have questions about specifics. Looking forward to enjoying the site and learning a few tricks. This winter if the Sambar works out like I anticipate I will be looking into a lift kit and wheel/tire combos.

Welcome aboard. Limestone and I both own Hijets, so we don’t have specifics on the Subies. But both of us also have quite a bit of mechanical knowledge and wisdom, and are pretty good at basic troubleshooting. The little trucks have a few strange idiosyncrasies, like switched grounds, and strange little Constant Velocity Carbs with power valves and accelerator pumps, that I’ve never seen before. But if you understand basics, you can generally worry your way through them.
Thanks for the welcome.It appears I bought a project when in fact I bought it to do projects....Pulling the valve cover off for a valve lash adjustment then a timing belt today. She's pretty gutless...

Welcome, I have a Suzuki so I’m not much use. And as far as lifts go be careful not to lift to much. I installed better springs myself. Facebook has taken most of the traffic from here, but this place is the go to for info.
