I have done quite a bit of research and decided on a Sambar. I have a importer and found a truck that has all I want but the supercharger. I was wandering if any of you can tell me if it’s one to go for https://www.royal-trading.jp/3641-japan-used-subaru-sambar+truck-1992-mini+vehicle.html he said he can Buy it, get it in the country, titled and at my door step for $4800. If not then I’ll be patient and hope for a better one. Or if any of you know of a better one with ac and the round headlights preferably the high top for my 6,2 and 6,6 friends I’m in Texas

In my opinion the condition of that vehicle doesn't match with that odometer reading. Looks more like 121,000 km rather than 21,000 km, or it was used really hard / poorly maintained.

The high cabs are a bit harder to find, even harder in really good condition at a reasonable price so maybe the little bit extra work this might require may be worth it to you, I guess it just depends on what you'll be using it for.

In the description area, it states the odometer has been changed. If I had a need, I would go for it.

I fix my own vehicles so I can fix any problems and ya I expect it to be minimum 120k but do you think it looks like it might be 220k?

Hard to say, but I would definitely say it is in the six digits. Overall, the body is not in that bad of shape aside from the roof of the cab, not really sure what happened there to have it rusting from the inside.

Like Fred said, if you had a need for it and it fits your price window, I would say go for it as well, ideally there is always going to be a little bit of chance on these vehicles without being able to physically inspect them / hear them running, but if you do all your own work, I'm sure you won't have an issue with any repairs this may need as they aren't really complex vehicles.

Where are you located? $4,800 for that is high I think... I calculate about $3,450 with a broker included bringing it into the USA via Port of NY

That is the same site I bought my van from. $4800 total is within $100 of what I would have guessed.

I would say definitely hold out for the supercharger. If you're looking for a white Sambar truck you are going to find TONS of them available. Just be patient. I waited for several months before I pulled the trigger on mine and I'm very happy that I did. Be sure to check auction sites too. Your import broker can probably help with that.

The seller says he’ll get me a video of it running in a few days so I’ll wait for that but ya I’m considering looking at a local acty has ac and ok condition but I really want the Sambar because of the round headlights (so better options for brighter lights) the taller cab, better options for a radio and quality speakers also supposedly higher top speed but It looks the same as the Honda on paper

I mostly want the supercharger for the efi. The regular engine has a carb and I have fiddled with the one on my el camino enough that I’d rather not. I doubt I’ll feel that extra 10hp That only kicks in at the top end anyway

If you won't be taking it on the highway the supercharger is less of an issue. I'd definitely want EFI though.

Not sure where you are located in Texas, but I just bought my '91 Sambar from US Minitruck in Houston. It looks like he just acquired another one in that price range.

+1 for US mini trucks. I bought my supercharged sambar from him. Ben was great to deal with, very honest and the truck was in excellent condition. He delivered it from Houston to Austin for only $150. Very good pricing to boot.

Also being from Texas that truck has more rust on it than you've probably seen in your entire life up to this point. I would hold it for something with much less rust and the supercharger.
