I have a 93 Carry with a Dump, I have literally replaced almost everything on this truck without getting into the real guts. I have a very loud sound at mid to high RPM's that sounds like it is coming from somewhere around the timing cover. I am wondering if i didn't get the timing belt tensioner tight enough and the sound is the belt slapping against the cover or somewhere inside the cover. I also have no top end power. No real issues starting and keeping a good idle, but when revving the engine the sound is consistent with the engine. Any thoughts, has anyone else experienced this sound? Oh my truck does not have a Cat but I do have a 2 inch muffler i believe. Could this just be the sound of the engine without a cat?
