how about ability to warm up during winter? I have seen occasions on other cars that by removing the CAT it would take longer to warm up.

    Any idea on this?

    Thank you

Is there a step by step on the removal of the Cat?
What about an actual header, do they make one?

So in the second picture it shows the curved what I'm zooming is heat shield and then the flange for the exhaust pipe hooks up. My question is is that the flange that you remove so that you can get the screwdriver into remove the catalyst stuff?

I assue the cat can be reached with just removing the tail pipe.
    The heat shield should stay?

  5. Can someone please help me, I have a 99 carry and at first glance I can't locate the cat converter. Is it near the manifold?

I know this is an old post but i am new to the forum. I have a 91 Carry and plan on cleaning out the cat on it, by doing this, will the sensor give a fault or light on the dash?

Take pic's of your system and maybe some one can help you identify if you do or don't!

  9. I have a 99 carry and mine had a cat closer to the rear of the truck, I knocked the inside of my cat out and I had no problems with any sensors and to be honest it was a job worth doing. I've noticed a small gain in top end hp. Im able to hold no less than 85 km/h up any hill where as after putting 14" aluminum rims with with 23" all seasons before knocking my cat out, I lost much more up hills, having to gear down once in a while. Small gains are worth it on these little guys

Mine 99 has a cast 3 tube header that went into 3 long tubes into 1.
I made a collector and went 2" from the header.

Just jacked up my 93 carry used pent oil couple times then heated cast iron where exhaust bolts are screwed in put my breaker bar and 6 sided socket grunted and the bolts popped loose. You can see in the photos the catalytic cone material deep into the curve took long screw driver and broke up the chunks . Cleaned out the chunks started the engine and blew the crap out, cleaned and reassembled all runs great. Thanks to all in giving the info on how to do the work.

This is a picture of the crumbs that came out of the catalytic converter when broken up into pieces very much like a cone shape if you zoom in

Thanks for sharing the pics! My muffler just broke at the inlet side so I’m going to attempt breaking the flange bolts @header/cat. Hopefully I get lucky and they actually come out lol. Have you had a chance to drive the truck since knocking the comb out?

The truck runs very well revs up very quickly but I haven’t had a chance to take it on a long road trip to see the difference in performance on hills I’m gone for a couple weeks and will take it out on the road when I get back and let everyone know

Here is an update on my catalytic converter cleaning I took it out for a 40 mile run to the farm today 20 each way, it has 23 8 12 tires they’re UTV tires, had great pick up seem to go up and down hills on the roads without downshifting better than in the past I think removing the catalytic core helped somewhat for sure it did not hurt , no warning lights no change in temperatures not any louder than before, but my wife says I am hard of hearing ‍♀️. everything seems great glad I did it so far .I do have and have had prior... a cigar type smell I can’t determine the source unless it’s in the seat fabric that gets hot by driving at high speed meaning 60 km/h not sure what it could be I don’t smoke .So if you’re thinking of doing it 93 Suzuki carry check out the pictures worked great.

Hey all, hope it's ok if I highjack this thread instead of starting a new one!

Exhaust temp sensor is constantly on. The truck sometimes rough starts/rough idles for about 5 seconds then runs like a top.

It looks like the CAT sensor is completely removed. Does anyone have pictures of where it gets wired too? Do I get a new sensor or if this thing is so rusted if it's even worth fixing since it seems to run relatively fine? It has a new muffler and exhaust (to the left, out of frame on picture). I'm not sure what this middle part is (looks to be welded/scabbed together).

I'm a bit confused by a couple things in the picture, if anyone has any input I would really appreciate it!
