Ethanol free finally free?

I've seen posts and I myself put ethanol free gas in my mini. Right now, regular gas is $1.50 and ethanol free is $2.79 a gallon. I drive a full size American pickup for work quite a bit. It tells me what my fuel economy is for the last 25 miles, 50 miles, etc. The last two tanks that I have filled up with have resulted in fantastic fuel economy. Over 4mpg better than usual. With oil being at an all time low and ethanol being at an all time high due to sanitizers, I'm thinking that regular fuel is now ethanol free because it's cheaper. 43 states do not require ethanol, but all allow 10%. I'm going to test some tomorrow, but I thought I'd just throw my conspiracy theory out there tonight.

interesting theory, would certainly make sense as long as transport infrastructure can work around the states with the e-10 mandades. the more petrolium put out the better off everyone is right now from the driller all the way to the distribution system.

I went by the closest gas station to my work today and filled a gallon can, transferred it to a water bottle with an inch of water in there and shook it up. Now have an inch and a half in the water phase, so that station does have ethanol in the fuel. I'm going to go to the last one I filled up at and check there tomorrow. I really thought I was on to something..

Well this myth is busted. I went by the fuel station that I last filled up with and it too had ethanol. I had a friend check on the other side of the state and he found no ethanol, so it might not be here yet, but I bet it's coming. Regardless, if I'm going to do any more testing, I need a test tube. I lose a good cup and a half of good gas with these water bottles!

Find the skinny bottles that olives are packed in. Test tube with a screw on lid.
