    Hello,
I'm new to JDM and the Liteace so why not dive right in the deep end with a 1990 Toyota Liteace Camp Mate. Not a whole bunch of info about this vehicle out in the world. Hoping that some of you will take me under your wing and advise me on mechanical aspects. I'm new to diesels and right hand drive. Seems like a great vehicle.

What is the most common problem with the Liteace 2L diesel?
Can you improve performance? Not for road rally purposes, need get up and over Donner Pass.

Most important who has the parts? Using megazip now. Need window seal rubber badly on camper windows.
Someone please tell me they know where to find a battery compartment cover part 58440 / aka 58441-95701.

The camper is from a conversion/ camper company so the window seals will have to come from a camper supplier. Megazip, Partsouq, Amayama and Impex Japan are all good suppliers

Matt, Thanks much for the info. I will make good use of it. Thing is so old that I know it will add to the struggle to locate parts.

So far I have learned that the battery compartment cover is a out of production. Bummer cause battery sits behind the drivers seat and compartment is open to the road below. I now have a open hole in floor behind the drivers seat. That may impact my plans for winter travel a little. So if anyone has a line on one or has one to sell let me know.

Have not yet used the hand crank to open the slide out. Not sure if there is a saftey latch or lock to undo before you start cranking.

Rubber flooring going in next week. That will be a great start to this.
Got furloughed today 2 months minimum. Camper will be good to focus on during quarantine!

If anyone can share the pitfalls I need to look for with the Liteace I would much appreciate.

I have the original manual for this vehicle. But of course cannot read.
Anyone who has been searching for a manual, let's figure out how to make this one more useful. I am happy to share.

As to your manual: You may be able to cut it apart, and scan it into an Adobe PDF, and run google translate.

Re the seals: They are kind of universal. So I you have your old ones, to measure you might be able to find Ones that match. https://www.trimlok.com/rubber-extrusion

Thanks Jigs, I think that is the move with the manual. Once we have freedom of movement again, I will scan it and share with all.

I think I found a battery compartment cover at Impex! Thanks again for heads up Matt.

Cool van! Upload some interior pics. I've used amayama with great success if you've got part numbers.

Thanks AZ. I am planning to do the flooring install this weekend. After that I will send interior pics.
Looking for advice on rims. Can anyone tell me which Toyota rims can I fit on this Liteace? Can I go up to a 15 inch rim?

Bolt pattern is 5x4.5/ 5x114.3 ( Ford, 5 lug Trailer, 5 Lug Toyota, Mopar 5 lug ect... ) with a 60.1mm center and ET27mm offset. So you may be able to use common Ford Ranger rims, Toyota pickup 5 lug rims and many others

195/65R15 would be the size in equivalent diameter

Thanks much Matt. That helps a ton.
Found a hole in front exhaust pipe. Hope to have that here and install in about 2 weeks.

Anyone ever replaced front pipe on a the 2 liter 2C diesel? What did you learn about how that task is best performed?

This camper has a strange design when it comes to power for on board systems.
Seems you must run the 2C diesel to power the systems. Maybe I am not seeing this correctly, but I have not located any battery storage or generator.

OK had some time to clean and I installed flooring and will start going thru the brake system next.
There is an empty rack for a storage battery and a "land/shore power" type plug here. All systems work HVAC in camper, water pump for sink and all lighting
Slide out is manual and works well.

The battery compartment cover is the hardest part to find right now. Here are new pics of floor and compartment piece in case anyone knows of a Liteace wrecking yard.

    Thanks Outpost603

The brakes checked out and are in good shape. Now waiting on delivery of front pipe to fix nasty exhaust leak.
Spent the day with wax, both on and off, and made the thing shiny nice. All that is left really is to go out in the world with it.

Thanks O.D. and Limestone. I like this rig an awful lot or all it's features.

Family and I think I we will have to part with it due to damn Cornholio-19 virus massively impacting income.

....apparently if I write a check without money in bank to back it up they call it a "felony" or "fraud".
When the Fed Gov't does that it's called "deficit spending". ;)

Man it's a shame - it definitely cleaned up really well. It's crazy how many people have been pretty much sidelined because of this pandemic. Best thoughts for you Mark Leon.

Shame to see that go, I have one that is almost identical. Ive had it for two years now, can't drive it anywhere without people asking what it is...
