The minipickup is now hardstarting and engine vibrates severely at idle, shaking the whole vehicle. This happened two weeks after timing belt change and a day after flushing the coolant system. engine is F6A 12valve, rear mounted also. thanks
My first guess is the timing belt jumped a tooth. Have a look at that first since you mentioned it was changed. best of luck.
MichTrucks has good advise. Another thought is that if you did a chemical flush, I'm still not sure about this, but I have heard that sometimes it eats away at gaskets and could cause a head gasket failure or other gasket, especially on older engines. This is just what I've been told so I stay away from the chemical flush for this reason. Good luck with your gremlin, and keep us posted! -Greg
timing belt ok, npe did not use radiator flush of any kind but all three sparkplugs are oily - could mean worn rings or cylinders?
I'd have to agree with the timing belt scenario. If it jumped time it can do all sorts of weird things.
Maybe oil is leaking past the plug seals, essentially drowning the plug in oil. It will misfire to the head under load (or all the time). Replace both portions of the valve cover gasket if this is the case.
bro kargador, is your engine still vibrating during driving ? what oil viscosity are you using ? besides a possible jumping timing belt, you may want to take a look at your dip stick. metals grinding against each other is a sure source of vibration.
good day, my F6A/p-up type is also hard starting. I use it 3 times a week, after about 2days not used. Its hard starting, but after it starts and running, Just a ckick and will start. After 2 days, same story. What seems to be the culprit? many thanks
mine has been hard starting too. i rev slightly for about a minute then easing off the gas until it idles without conking. warmup ?
Without more specific information here is my guess. By hard starting I am assuming you mean you have to crank it for an extended period of time before it fires. If that is what you mean then I certainly would be looking at fuel problem. It's the same kind of thing I have with my jetski. First time I have to prime the heck out of it and it still take a lot of cranking before it starts. After that no problem. The cause...not getting fuel at the carburator right-a-way. I'm not proficient on mini fuel system but...if it fires up right-a-way using a shot of starter fluid then it points to not getting fuel. So when you use it often the fuel doesn't have time to drain back, etc. Hope this is of some help.
I have found that the best way to start my Hijet is to pump the gas once and then turn the ignition key with my foot off the pedal. If it doesn't start right away or dies when I start moving, I repeat the process. Following this procedure, the truck usually starts immediately. I had trouble getting the thing going when I tried starting the vehicle while the gas pedal was partially depressed. Sam
i found the culprits for my zuk's starting problem: a busted spark plug and a lean fuel mixture. i had the spark plugs replaced and the fuel mixture adjusted. my ride is now okay....
hi to all, thanks for those suggestion in my issue. I had a copy of the carb. manual available in this forum. After adjusting the choke valve/idle speed/air fuel mixture (trial and error, am no techie guy), the hard starting problem seems to ease. Now one more thing, i want to check and clean the spark plugs. My zuk is already 3 mos. to me, i find those plugs hard to remove due to their location. Are there special tools in removing them? Are there techniques in removing them? many thanks, julius
