Pertronix makes pointless conversions for 3-cylinder engines with Denso distributors that have breaker points.

There are two models available, the 1631, and 1632. 1631 for distributors which turn counter-clockwise from the top, and 1632 for ones which turn clockwise. Be sure to check with the Pertronix tech support before ordering to be sure it will work for you.

Both are available on Amazon, or on the Pertonix website.

One advantage is that they will allow you to replace the factory ecm, with the ignitor, and you won’t ever need to screw with the points, and setting the dwell angle ever again.

I've run pertronix on my boat and old truck for years. It is well worth it IMO.

got a link to this for mini trucks?

any chance it gives it a little hotter spark?

Since they haven’t seen enough minitrucks, they don’t have a distinct model number listing for them. But most of the mini trucks have Denso distributors, and they have two versions, depending on which direction your distributor turns. Which is why I said to call their tech support. You’ll need your distributor number, so they can check it against their listings.

Yes it will give a two or three times hotter spark. Particularly if you opt to install one of their coils at the same time.

And if you have a speed control system run through the engine control box, which you can then eliminate, you have solved another problem.

Another user of Pertronix products here and will vouch for their quality & durability. I have installed Pertronix on several older Fords, Toyotas & VWs in the past. I have also used Comp-u-fire on a couple VWs and they are good also. I have no experience with using these products on Kia class vehicles. I did own a 87 Suzuki Sprint during the early 90s and a 96 Metro somewhere around the turn of the Century, but they came with pointless ignitions. My 2002 Suzuki Carryvan is Coil-on-plug so completely computer controlled. Another option (if they are still around, I used this in the late 70s & early 80s on a couple Fords & Chevvys) was a system called ARC which used the points to merely trigger a transistor to turn on/off the coil, took all the load off the points and pretty much eliminated all the point problems.
