1992 Sambar Rollover

    Hi all,

Its been a while since I 've been on here, but I had a lot going on over the Summer with Work and relocating and I rolled my Sambar over around Mid-June. Thankfully I just scarred my arm up a bit and am alive. So right now I am just wondering what to do with it. I am in a completely different city and 1000 miles away from my 92 Subaru Sambar and just would like some advice/input on whether you all think it would be worth it to invest in fixing it up, sell it as is, get a parts Sambar for it, etc. I just don't like projects sitting around and want to get a plan.

Has anyone done any body work or had to replace a windshield on one of these rigs? How much money would I be looking at spending, roughly? Choosing by Advantage? Would it be worth it to part it out?

Vehicle in Question is 92 SDX, Supercharged, with 92,000 KM on it. Street legal and titled in the Bea^er State. Still runs just has some body damage as you can tell. Flipped it over after dozing off into a ditch around midnight had it towed that night to the nearest town and next day fired it up and drove 60 Miles back to base.

That's awful but I'm glad you are OK. I bet that was pretty scary. Based on how much it costs to get one here, I'd say parting it out would be the best option. I don't think you could get it right for less than you could get a replacement unless you're both really skilled and really bored. I'm no expert, but from what I've seen a SC engine/tranny could get you some money as well as numerous other parts such as fuel tank, fuel pump, axles, etc. if you felt it was worth your time on ebay or fb. I saw a guy on fb looking for that good front blinker last week. Good luck with your decision, and if you decide to part it out, I've got dibs on the battery cover!

Yeah, Good Input on the parting out. That will problaby be the best bang for buck. I am limited on time right now and for the forseeable future, but I might have a friend who has more resources and time to help part it out.

Cut the A-pillars right at the base, and the B-pillars at the bottom of the rear windo, weld up some pipe doors like the late 80s “Off-road Maintenance Vehicle” Daihatsus and drive it around during the summer.

Pull the body, find a kit car body someone has lost interest in and make a real interesting ride...

If you didn't twist the cab, you could put a windshield back in it and find a couple doors and keep trucking. The front glass will run around $600 but it's available

But I would buy another clean Sambar and put the supercharged driveline in it.

Thanks all for your input. I probably will go the parting out route, just because I know that I can at least recoup some of the loss, and factor in the fact that I am considering upgrading to a full size Isuzu Elf, Toyota Lightace, Nissan Vannete, or a Nissan Atlas I would like those additional funds. But I will keep this thread updated depending on the route I go and if I do go part it out I will keep you all in the loop. Thanks.

Well, looks like Ill be holding on to the Sambar for a while as its tied to cheaper insurance rates for my other rig. In that case looks like I can go invest some more money into it. As much as I like the chopping it into an offroad maintenance vehicle, I still want to keep it somewhat streetable.

Not gonna be parting it out, at least right now. I think it has some potential around the country-side. Ill probably stick a new fuel pump in it and keep it rolling.
