    Hello, all!

I very recently bought a 1991 Acty. It ran perfectly fine for the first four hours and after flooding the motor, I ended up killing the original Japanese battery.

I replaced it that night with an ever start lawn battery and everything ran great!

I got back from a business trip today and it turned over as expected but after parking it, it refused to give me any lights or AC. I suspected the new battery was also dead and used a jump box on it. We jumped it and the truck died within a minute while it was just idling. That made me suspicious that the alternator might’ve been going bad...

so could this be an alternator problem or should I just replace the battery again?

With the truck running is the alternator sending current to the battery? And, does a voltage meter read 13.6 volts.

With a properly performing alternator, the engine should continue to run without the battery.

The alternators on the minitrucks are one form or another of a “Mini Denso”, which are used on a variety of industrial engines, forklifts, etc. So, you can get rebuild kits for them on eBay, and most rebuilders can rebuild them for you. Complete alternators are available on eBay, and at better parts houses.

They can be had with up-to 90-amps output, a large increase over the stock 35 or 40-Amps.

When you switch the ignition on, is the battery light on? After starting the engine the light should be off. If there is no light at all, then the alternator does not start to produce power, as it needs the exciter signal.

that is the way it works on my old BMW from 1988, probably the Acty also needs the signal.
here is the thread from last year https://minitrucktalk.com/threads/alternator-replacement.18460/
if you are lucky you just need a new brush set for the alternator regulator http://jp-carparts.com/honda/partlist.php?maker=honda&type=ACTY VAN&cartype=21248&fig=E&fig1=610
double check the p/n with your VIN
