Hi! New on the forum, hope someone got some leads on how/where to find new breaks (drums) for my Daihatsu 1000 from 1984. The Swedish mandatory car inspection recently flagged the breaks because the break drums had become oval. Now I need to change them in order to legally have the car back on the road. Any tips on where to look for these parts and what models that will fit the car? As I've understood it, the 1000 cab/van is another name for one of the Sixth generation Hijets (S65, S70), can anyone confirm that? Any help to save our beloved super car would be highly appreciated!! : )
EBay Great Britain, might be a source. Also Piaggio Porter parts may work. They are the European, licensee for Hijet manufacture.
Thanks! Saw a Piaggio porter once and it indeed looked the same. Wonder what exact model of the porter I shoul look for though... Regarding build number, is that the same as vin-nr? If so here it is:
Not sure on the s75 but on the 85 and 100 the build number is stamped in the body under the seat. On my JDM s110 it's under the drivers drive
Also the drums have a minimum thickness and back in the day would of been machined true on a brake lathe. Is this something you can have done. New young mechanics are glorified parts changers.
Ok! The only thing I could find under the seat was the VIN-nr: *JDA00S75V00000713* Previous owner had glued a lot of padding under the seat so it took a while to find it. Was under the passenger seat though
