Whilst driving, I drove over a bump in the road and then my van cut out and would not start. Plenty of life in battery etc but just wont start. A mechanic looked at it and said it was possibly the ignition coil, I ordered one which took 2 months to arrive, cost £170! and it is not that so very disappointed! Can anyone help?

You need to be looking for a bad connection to or on the engine. Not likely to be a bad part. Check for power to the ignition coil, spark at the plugs.

What does it do now? Crank? Click? Do the radio and lights work?

With the ignition on, is there current to the coil?

I have had the wire from the coil to the distributor pop off before while driving because I put a little too much dielectric grease in there. Check your spark plug wires and if that isnt it, I would look to see if you had fuel pressure.

You are going to have to help us here, nobody can tell you exactly what's wrong with your vehicle over the internet. If you can't check voltage etc. yourself you are going to have to take it to someone who knows how.
