What does this do exactly and is there anyway to test it. I can test the fuel shut off one and here it but what about this.
    Thanks in advance.

I think it is a vacuum controlled fuel enrichment device. Typically they had ports to manifold vacuum, and manifold vacuum through a thermostatic vacuum valve.

When the engine was cold the vacuum valve was closed, and the manifold vacuum side of the chamber would move a mixture needle, to enrich the air fuel ratio. As the engine warmed up, the temperature valve would open and deliver suction to the other side of the diaphragm, and start returning the air fuel ratio to the normal running range.

This is based on a knowledge of seventies Toyota emissions technology. But, given: the same company built the carbs; and, Toyota and Daihatsu are sister companies. I would expect them to share knowledge, and have similar operating schemes, and solutions to problems.

When I first got my S110, I was surprised how much similarity, there was between it, and the 77 Hilux I used to own. I would almost swear then interior door handles, and window riser handles are the same parts.

ya similar the vacuum lines cracked on mine for the the thermo valve. it controls air to a vacuum pot that pulls the throttle open some and put it up on fast idle. with out even at temps above freezing it would flood and idle like crap
