After Shipping it was around $ 4,500.

    Well worth it.

If its in mint condition with all the servicing done I would say go buy it as they generally sell for $8 to $12,000.

Hello. I own a Suzuki carry with dump bed, however i am looking into getting a diesel mini truck like the liteace or townace.

What are the differences between the liteace truck and townace truck?

1: Engine (i think they are both 2.0 litre diesels) ?

    2: Cargo capacity (weight) ?

3: Bed size (8 feet from what info i have found)?

    4: Speed ? (KM/H or MPH)

4.5: 4wd type such as open diffs or locking?

5: Can the lite/townace take the same utv tracks as my Suzuki carry does?

6: I am not looking to make the either ACE street legal. However off road workhorse is a priority , any suggestion on this point?

    Thank You.

You know, that is a good question. I've looked at the Townace and it look very similar to my LiteAce.
It seems that that Townace has the arm features as my truck.

    Diesel, 2.0 diesel, and 1 ton. ( 705 KG )
1: Engine (i think they are both 2.0 litre diesels) ?

    2: Cargo capacity (weight) ?

    4: Speed ? (KM/H or MPH)
I've driven this up to 100 mph - speedo says tops 140 K/M Mine is a 5 sped on the column.

4.5: 4wd type such as open diffs or locking?

Mine has the automatic locking 4x4 inside the cab - very convenient is in mud or snow.

5: Can the lite/townace take the same utv tracks as my Suzuki carry does?
    THis I do not know.
6: I am not looking to make the either ACE street legal. However off road workhorse is a priority , any suggestion on this point?

I was able to make it street legal here in Arizona. I have taken this truck all over the mountains, beaches, desert, and it runs perfect.
It is the best truck I've owned ( except for my 88 Land Cruiser). It get great gas mileage, always starts on the first try, and the side rails come down.
Not sure why American manufacturers do include this on their trucks. If you can find a LiteAce I highly recommend it as a work horse - you will not regret it. Stick to a diesel, way more torque, better gas milage, and they last forever.

    I hope that helps.

Where are you looking fro a truck?

Where are you located? A lot of these truck are coming from Canada.

I am in Canada. I'm a fan of diesel and i don't have any problems with my Suzuki carry and i haul a-lot of sand, earth, gravel and the entire bed filled to the top of the cab of green firewood. It's pushing the limits the of the suzuki but i did add a stronger suspension and modded the cooling system. I would prefer the keep my Suzuki for winter (with the tracks) as more of a play or exploration machine. The ACE also has more driver room and being wider and probably more stable and has a longer bed.

Wow i need to be on here more often.. been a year since i last drove my liteace :( I got the seal but never got it put in or did anything with it... the flood and having to evacuate didnt help i guess.

    TerraTracks:

1- Town/Liteace is like Chev/GMC. same but different.

2- rated for 750KGS in the bed but ive had 1400 in mine before.

3- think its 8'x6' been awhile since i checked but its basically same as a long box but no wheel wells!

4.5- maxes out about 115km/hr. runs out of engine revs. driving at 100 on the nose is fastest to push the engine. after that its getting hard on it.

4- mine has open diffs but there is diff lock options i believe. I also have full time always locked hubs and there is option of locking hubs.

5- for tracks you would have to look it up. same wheel pattern as the chevy tracker.

6- If you live in the USA I believe you cannot import them due to being over 2L and larger engine size due to EPA. that might have changed in the last year.

Additionally ALLOT of things from the Toyota Van from the 80's fits these trucks! www.Toyodiy.com has all the parts numbers!!

i also drive a toyota townace truck but its a 4k engine(petrol) with 4speed gearbox. it drives great but lacks power and beeps at 100km/hr. is it ok to ignore the beeping and go past 100km/hr say 140km/hr cos at that speed it be revving so high?whats the beep for is it a speed governor?

Not sure what you mean't by 4k petrol but if i make an educated guess it probably means a 4 litre engine. The gouverner is there to keep you from passing the safety limitations of the vehicle. A 4 litre gas/petrol engine is massive for a mini truck and you could do well over 200KM/H but the truck is simply too light for that and you would probably blow the transmission before that.

He means the K engine series, in North America they were used on Corollas and Starlets in the 70s/80s.

On the gasser/petrol Liteace/Townace the K series engine is the most popular. The 4K is 1.3L and used in the 80's. My Liteace has the 5K 1.5L which was used through most of the 90's. They also come with the Y series engines in 1.8L (most common), 2.0L and 2.4L. The Y series engine is the same series as used in the Toyota LE vans from the 80's (they only came with the 2.4L variant).

The K series engines are well built and have lots of torque for the size and HP and take a lot of abuse that the the 2C 2.0L diesel will crack a head over. Also they have a beefy timing chain that lasts far longer than a belt. My Liteace quite easily cruises at 110kmh on teh flats. Much above 110 with stock wheels the rpms are getting kind of high for a long drive imo. I upgraded to larger that stock wheels&tires and the highway rpms are much nicer now.

I see, Thank you for the info. I am looking to buy a 2.0litre i doubt that i will ever get to 100km/h I don't even do 80KM/H on my honda atv on gravel roads but i do want torque 4x4 locking heater, cooling but not ac. I admit i don't have much experience if any with the liteace or their diesel engines. I do have years of experience with diesels but we are talking about Hatz, lister, kubota, lombardini, deutz and winsun and the gas/petrol F6A engine in the Suzuki carry mini truck.

So reliability, great fuel economy (working), low cost upkeep, diesel torquey ,4x4, dumpbed (added later if needed). Basically a larger stronger version of the Suzuki carry.

thanks for the information.its a 4k Toyota engine 1.3ltr displacement, its quite a small engine and can goin past the governor cook the engine? now its too light for high speeds, what if its loaded a little

thanks now is there a possibility of getting a five speed gearbox for a 4k engine to fit on the townace. i recon if i get fifth gear i cud do better speeds at low revs

Hi. Yeah ok about the model numbers. Governors are often installed in vehicles that go above a certain speed, My Honda rancher 420 atv has the Governor kick in at about 82KM/H and it makes sense as after 75KM/H the atv starts getting a little unruly. Same for my Suzuki Carry mini truck, it's a safety feature.
From what i have read on here there does not seem to be much use having a mini truck go 100KM/h+ particularly for long distances as the aerodynamics of the mini trucks are pretty bad. However i suppose some one could come up with some form of wind curbing modification.

So... end of an era I guess. The liteace has sold. but not with out SGI drama... since I havent licensed it in a couple years SGI decided that they have no record of it... fun times. apparently the old registration shows up nothing when they punch it in the computer...
