Hey All - looking for aftermarket replacement P/Ns for the Daihatsu OEM tie rod end P/Ns: 45047-87583 (right) and 45046-87583 (left). Before everyone kindly reminds me of the "search" button, please know I've done some homework Between some helpful posts on this site and Google, I've come up a handful of potential replacements: - Moog ES488L and Moog ES484R were suggested for a 93 HiJet S80LP 4x2. It looks like the same ones from my S83P 4x4, but I can't track down any specs on them. In addition, I can't get them to cross-reference with anything Daihatsu. Any personal experiences with using these? - I found Moog DI-ES-1451 on RockAuto.com. It's listed for a "1992 DAIHATSU HIJET 993cc L3" (http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,920883,parttype,7428), so I'm guessing it would work. This also cross referenced with the OEM P/N on yoyoparts.com (http://www.yoyoparts.com/oem/5855501/daihatsu-4504787583.html), so that seems promising. However, I need both (plan on replacing both outers and both inners) and the left OEM P/N (45046-87583) has no hits. I think it's Moog DI-ES-1450, but I'm not positive. I contacted both Napa and O'Reilly Auto Parts over the weekend and both were as helpful as possible. Napa couldn't really find much even after using the thread specs and length. I tried something off a Mazda that matched the thread specs, but the taper was wrong. O'Reilly Auto Parts is actually a Moog dealer, but they couldn't find any of the Moog P/Ns that I fired at them. There are also a ton of oddballs I came across from Ashika (TI607L), Mapco, Japko, etc., but trying to track those down seem quite difficult. Lastly, I tried using Moog's universal tie rod end database (http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/Universal_Outer_Tie_Rod_Ends.asp), but I wasn't having much luck. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated! I know I can purchase the factory replacements for $85/EA, but that seems a little extreme for a tie rod end. Hopefully some of the info above can be helpful in your quests as well. Thanks!
85.00 bucks ea. ? I'd buy them and they would already be mounted. But if you want to keep looking IMO go back to the simple plain jane 1980's Toyota Corolla or the like and I bet you find find a match. Have you looked on ebay?
I guess $85/EA seemed a little steep in my world, especially when I originally picked up the truck for $300 I did check EBAY, but thank you for the suggestion. I did go back and search again with a fresh pair of eyes. I believe I found the ticket! First Line FTR 4167 (LH) First Line FTR 4193 (RH) Picked up two of each for a whopping total of 47.4 Pounds (roughly $79...includes shipping). They need to make the trip across the pond, so it'll be around April 9th before they arrive. I crossed checked both of these P/Ns and they seem to match perfectly. Don't have much knowledge of FTR parts, but they seem legitimate. I'll update everyone once they arrive!
Just wanted to let you fine folks know. On a 92 S83p, 660cc 4wd dump- those Moog ES488L and Moog ES484R DO NOT FIT. Yes they look the same, but the taper sizes are way too small. Would love to know if these First Line parts worked out.
Hi, I bought a set of these- First Line Parts. For our S83P- made around 8-9 of 1992, these DO NOT FIT.... I then got a set off ebay, from a mini truck parts supplier. Those fit perfectly.
Regarding Moog parts and specs. I called Moog themselves and talked the their highly knowledgeable technician about some parts. They gave me all of the specs on the (almost unknown to them) Moog ES488L, which they said was a McQuay Norris part, not Moog. When I got my ES488L and ES488R from a NOS ebay auction, I noticed that they are "555" brand. The reason why I am going to try these are some cross references I found and I have the older truck, an S80 left hand drive. I will see if they fit and report back in a new thread.
Please do let us know, mine are shot and I gave up a couple of years ago but would really like to replace them.
Another option on the Daihatsu parts is Piaggio Porter parts out of Europe. Piaggio builds the Hijets in Italy, under license. But an 88, is now thirty years old, so even those are getting kid of hard to source.
