So get this. When the parking lights are on the high beam indicator lights up. Same with the break lights. Both are inop btw.
Thats what I was afraid of. Its in pieces anyway so Ill just go through and check them all. Is it worth putting a grounding strap from the frame to the body? I dont see one currently.
extra grounds are always good, but yeah sounds like theres a bad ground somewhere for those lighting issues
Most Japanese vehicles have the lights wired for switched ground control. Which can make trouble shooting really weird, if you don’t know that. Sounds like the problem is in the light switch. All three come together there.
Maybe I was not clear. With the switch off, key removed, press the brakes and the high beam indicator comes on, brake lights do not. Turn on the parking lights with the ignition switch on and I get the high beam indicator but no parking lights. Seems like a grounding issue, I have not had time to look at it again, hopefully tonight.
I would suspect that one of the 1157 bulbs has 1 element broken loose and shorted to the other element and the high beam indicator is acting as ground for the circuits mentioned. Also check the grounds to the 1157 bulb sockets as a bad ground there may cause the same thing. Fred
