    hello everyone.

I have had interest in mini trucks for some time now, but only recently became serious about owning one. I own a small residential construction company building homes and cottages. I am looking for something that will allow me to burn less fuel and keep some kms off of my big truck. Most of the roads I use are 80 kph or under, and many or rough back roads. With the research I have done I feel a Subaru Sambar will be best suited for my needs.

I have contacted a fellow a few hours from me who has what appears to be a good condition mid 90's sambar. It is "not for sale" but sits. After speaking with him last week, he has said to give him some time to think it over and discuss it with his wife. I am hoping he is willing to sell, it has the options I am looking for and we can find a price to agree on.

If this does not work out, I think I may take the leap and do my dealings with Japan car direct. From what I have read here, Scott seems to be running a great business.

Any advise and experiences would be greatly appreciated. I will have more to add to this post, but will not load it up to much as of yet.

I think my closest port would be Montreal.

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to joining the club!

Anyone in the parry sound or north central Ontario area?

Good luck in your endeavor. I don't know much about the Sambar, but my Honda Acty SDX2 microvan gets about 30mpg/12.75kmL. Depending on your big truck's fuel economy you may want to stick with that.

Chances are all the mini trucks that come into Canada will come through Vancouver and be transported across to Ontario. I am in the northwest and mine cane through Vancouver. It's a heck of a lot closer to Japan than anywhere on the east coast.

yep comes to Vancouver, generally about $500ish to ship it by land from Vancouver or you can drive back

regards to Sambar ive driven mine 120kmh for hours at a time, i did Lethbridge to Edmonton in -30c in a blizzard last year at 120kmh no issue. flooring and ripping around in it in the city i average 34-35mpg, highway loaded or unloaded i get a steady 35mpg.

Look like I may have struck on deal on a Sambar about 2 hours from me.
Headed up to have a look see this weekend.

Anything special to look for on the sambar?
I have read "what I look for when buying mini truck" great read!

Ask When the timing belt was last changed, sambar are the only non interference kei truck but it still sucks when the belt goes. Also look for torn cv axle boots, every sambar I've owned came with a torn front or rear one. Make sure the 4x4 works as well

I will be doing breaks, timing belt and all fluid regardless.
    Are the cv axles available?
    Thanks

Yep RightDrive.ca sells the boots and rebuild kits on their website and eBay, I've ordered them before. Whole used cv axle likely used from Japan
