I own a 1998 Honda. For literally over a year I've been fighting this problem. I know there is a brain on here who can help. Truck runs great cold. When truck warms up it will not take throttle and dies. Cool off and runs great. I have replaced fuel pump and lines. Please help for i have not a clue and good truck setting. Thanks for any help
I appreciate your reply. I know very little about these trucks. I don't know how the water has any affect on it. Any ideas would appreciated.
I’m guessing that there is a thermostatic vacuum switch that isn’t working right. Or, the choke isn’t pulling of correctly.
There is no manual choke on a 1998. Check these 2 solenoids on the carb, they are controlling the air volume https://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/kurumanosentakuya/archive/2012/3/25 In my case the solenoids were blocked and not moving = too rich and unburnt fuel came out of the exhaust and no power when I pushed the gas pedal down. According to a friend who has a shop for K-car repairs these solenoids usually last max. 100000 km. http://s245.photobucket.com/user/calfranch/library/HondaATCY/Carb/AirCutOffSolenoid?sort=3&page=1 Part number for the solenoids are here: 6031-PZ3-000, 6024-PZ3-000.
I appreciate the replies. i do think its in the gas supply and most likely the carbs. I'm not very handy with wrenching on these trucks while being on a tight budget also. Didn't want to just start throwing money at it. I had this problem once before and put a new fuel pump on it. Fixed it for a while now it's back with a vengeance. put another fuel pump on it but it did not help at all. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Testing these 2 solenoids is not very complicated and does not cost anything. They are relatively easy to remove, then use a spare battery or the one from your truck and just connect as shown in the youtube. In case the solenoid does not move, you need a new one. 6024-PZ3-000 costs about $30 new here in Japan, the other one about the same. I just noticed, here in Japan there is now a 1 in front of the old p/n, so 16024-PZ3-000, 16031-PZ3-000 https://www.monotaro.com/p/2579/1788/
