Engine trouble, NO POWER?

So I got to drive my 02 Suzuki Carry DA63T(pretty sure that's it), and all was not well. It won't idle, and it dies without giving it gas, and it lacks power. Even though it's EFI it seems that pushing the pedal makes it start. When you start it, it revs up high(that may be normal), but then if you don't keep giving it gas it dies. We had to put it in 4lo just to get up a steep hill(and I got out and walked cause I'm way heavier than my friend LOL). It seems to bog down the more gas you give it. The check engine light comes on, and so does (!) this light(not sure what that means). Any ideas what my problem, or problems might be?

I'm sorry I think my truck is actually a DA62T.

Well I checked the oil, and it's smells like gas big time which makes me think it's not getting the air it needs. I think that may be why when I push the gas pedal it starts better, because it makes the butterfly open which gets more air in. I'm really leaning toward IAC on this, but I think I'm going to clean the throttle body first. Hopefully that's all that's wrong, and I haven't misdiagnosed. I will probably go ahead and buy a new filter too, and check the snorkel thing and make sure it's not clogged somewhere.

I did notice that the thing that is in the right corner of the engine bay(if you are looking down at engine from drivers side door) has a hose that is not hooked up to anything. Not sure if it's a vent tube or if it's just not connected where it should be.

I pulled the snorkel off it wasn't even 2inch pipe. It did start easier, and it idled for longer than I've ever seen it, but it still stuttered out and died. It sounded super horrible too vibrating, clicking, and clacking like a diesel. The filter is pretty dirty, but probably not dirty enough to cause this much trouble. It's not looking good. Any ideas?

Not sure if I can be of some help or not in your case. I am so much more comfortable with carbs & points(I am very old school) but I do own a 2002 DA62V which should indicate that the only difference is that mine is a Van and yours is a Truck type body. Mine has a K6A EFI engine and I assume yours does too. If you go to www.suzuki-forums.com/suzuki-carry-every-forum/ and do some searching, there was sometime in the past a thread which led to a free download from a site in UK of the complete service manual for the GA 413 vehicle which is ours. This manual contains a 4 cylinder engine and ours is 3 cylinder. The main thing it contains is the entire troubleshooting sequences which should also pertain to our vehicles. I have downloaded it to my computer and have it in my documents and would send it to you if I knew how to do that but I can't as I am nearly computer illiterate. You may also go to the website of Jacobsen who manufacture golf course & turf maintenance equipment and download a service manual for the K6A engine which they use as the power source in some of their equipment. It has all the specs and procedures for repair and such but is severely lacking in troubleshooting information. As I stated in the beginning, this may or may not be of some help to you, but it is always better to have as much info as possible.

Another thing is if you can smell the gas in the oil it should be changed before it catches fire or explodes in there. It is also washing the oil out of the bearings and causing a loss of lubrication of the bearings and cylinder walls where it is critically needed.

I do have the Jacobsen one on my favorites list. I think I'm going to check the plugs and coils next. It does seem to act similar to my Dodge 318 when I crossed the plugs.

Forget the plugs and coil. The clue to your problem is in your crankcase. All that extra fuel may be caused by the dirty filter.
Did you remove the filter and run it without to see if it made a difference? Don't drive it around that way, just start it and rev it up.

I did pull the filter and started it up. No change. Still died on me. It's weird that you can fire it up right away if it hasn't been started in a while, but once it starts dying on me I have to keep the gas pedal down for it to start.

The belt screeches pretty good sometimes when it starts. I wonder if maybe it's my alternator? I don't know why I would have to give it gas to start it though.

I would guess one of your fuel injector is stuck open flooding your engine when running and draining all the gas in the fuel rail down the cylinder when the engine is off causing gas in your oil.

If it was a stuck injector visually inspecting the spark plugs may confirm it. I wonder if a good dose of Seafom would help. Couldn't hurt.

How will the spark plug show if it's an injector? It does run lean or rich depending how you look at it which I would think would foul the plug either way. There are a couple of good educated guesses I can make, and buy parts for, but does anybody know a place where I can buy parts besides Yokohama(which seems way over priced to me)? I'm actually leaning toward it being the Idle Speed Control Solenoid, and it's like 416 bucks from Yokohama. That's a lot of money for an educated guess, but so is the injector.

Can you not check the computer?
The self diagnostic will tell you what is out of spec!

How do you check the computer? I didn't know it had a self diagnostic. Unless you mean can I read the codes? In that case no I can't, because I don't have a JOBD2 reader, and I don't know which ones will work for me. I thought about buying one, but some have said few work, and I don't know what few, and what they will cost me.

It should be OB 2 and you should be able to go to Auto Zone or your local auto parts store and they should be able to read the codes?

i dont know if Carry are the same but every JDM vehicle with OBDII ive owned/worked on you need a Japanese OBDII scanner, north American wont work

Where is the OBD port at? I bought a scanner on ebay, and I'm anxious to try it out.

UPDATE!!! So I hooked up a Vetmobile code reader I bought for cheap on ebay to it, and it gave me a P0325 Knock Sensor code. So far I haven't found a knock sensor for sale anywhere.
