Hello, my name is Jim Robertson, I am a Canadian citizen who retired early and moved to the Philippines which is my wife's home country. I bought a 1996 Suzuki Carry pickup 4x4 in August 2017. It didn't come with a manual so I am always looking for more information how things work and even where they are. There are so many of these trucks on the street here but since I have limited experience with the local language it's hard to walk up to someone who owns one and ask a lot of questions. This site is full of information and knowledgeable people who have far more experience than me with these mini trucks. The truck I bought is quite plain and I am looking to spice it up a little and hopefully maximize the performance and fuel efficiency. Cheers.

Welcome aboard. Lots of good people & good info here but the search doesn't work so good so one has to do some digging to find out info. I am an American living in Iloilo with my Filipina Asawa, where have you settled? I have a 2014(registered) Carry Van which is actually a 2002 Suzuki. Yours has the front wheels under the driver so that makes it actually a earlier generation vehicle(1990s timeframe) than mine as mine has the front wheels at the very front of the vehicle. There are various websites where you can find this info with your vehicle number which should be found on the door frame and under the seat.

Hello Fred and thanks for the welcoming. My wife and I live in Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro. Thanks to you I found the tag so now I will search for a website to decode the information. I have attached a photo of the tag.

Jim, Don't know how it is where you are but here in Iloilo I don't even bother with the local parts houses except for battery, tires, and general things. Anything vehicle specific I order from megazip. They are a bit slow but seem to have everything OEM that one might need. Don't know how it would go to have someone else do any work on the vehicle as I Have been turning wrenches since the mid 50s and worked as a fleet mechanic most of my life and so do all the maintenance & repairs on my own.

Have a friend here who has one about the same as yours(including the fiberglass cover) that he parks on the street in front of my house as he has no parking space.

Don't worry too much about the language. I have lived here for a bit over 3 years now and don't really bother about it, just too many local dialects and it gets pretty confusing. I let her do any interpreting I may need although most locals know a bit of english and we can usually converse to some extent with my very limited language skills.

    Fred
