Oil in the water, and water in the oil.

Just picked up a Carry last week. It seems the oil and water have an almost direct path to each other.
15 minutes to loose 1.5 qts of oil, and it appears to all be going in the water. Radiator and lines are full of milky sludge, the dipstick also has milky sludge on it.

What would be the most likely causes?

    Bad head gasket?
    Cracked head?
    Cracked block?

    Other possibilities?

Hard telling... hopefully just a bad HG. If it froze with plain water in it anything's possible.

Gonna have to pull it apart and see.

That happened to a motor I had once. the head gasket went on it. upon inspection I could not see a hole or tear. but replacement did work. Good luck

Quick note: if the surfaces is not nearly polished it can destroy a head gasket quick on aluminum heads or the face of a aluminum block. Aluminum expands and contracts twice that of steel or iron. Think Vega ;p
