    Hello,

I am going to purchase a 1991 Subaru Sambar from a dealer in Virginia. He has a VA title in hand but I live in North Carolina. I know that NC has no laws on mini trucks but I am wondering if anyone else has been successful in the state or knows and tips/tricks for DMV interactions as I'm sure it will be a first for them.....

1991 is Federally exempt for DOT regulation and EPA regulation and is legal in 49 states... Don't treat it like a " Mini Truck " it's not once it's 25 years old. If he has the title in hand for VA, then that title is all you need

The same process and legalities stand for a 1991 Nissan Skyline or any other Japanese Import as they do for a Sambar or any other KEI vehicle we may call a " Mini Truck " in the USA and Canada

Congrats! I had my Hijet through USAA too with no issues. I am surprised you had to try multiple insurance agencies.

All insurance Agents are not created equal, neither are DMV employees. It seems as if some individuals think their job is to make life hard for others. I guess it probably comes down to how things are interpreted by different individuals.
