I have a 1994 Hijet. Starving for fuel, will only run with starter fluid. I just purchased it from a friend, and haven't started working on it yet. Would appreciate some insight on were to start.

How long has it sat? Mine had old fuel in it when I got it which it really didnt like, also the fuel filter was clogged. carb could need a cleaning as well on a 94, assuming it is an s83 and not a 110.

I have a 1998 S110p....my truck tries to stall when accelerating...it's consistently getting worse...should I check out the same things? I replaced the in line fuel filter and the air filter. Replaced the spark plugs as well.
Still having problems....what should I check next?

pull the sending unit out of the tank. my tank had fine silt in it that would plug the screen in the tank after a few days driving. every time i filled up it seemed to stir up the silt and fix the fuel starvation .

Ok...sending unit looks good and there is no sediment, sand or rust in the bottom of the tank...super clean.
New in line filter installed, new spark plugs. Next step rebuilding the carburetor?

  8. As an experiment you might try an electric fuel pump. I installed one with the lowest pressure possible next to the fuel filter and left the old one in the system. I use it to prime only as my fuel pump will not fill the carb before the battery goes flat after it sits awhile.

Do you have to pull the carb out to clean it? Or is there something you can spray it with or run through it while it's still installed?

Seafoam can help in the fuel if you can get it to start.
