Hey dudes, I have two trucks and they both run pretty well but I have to rob this part that Mitsubishi refers to as an "Igniter." It is a box under the driver's seat with a wiring harness attached to it. I have tried G&Rand am waiting for a response. Southwest auto group says that they are no longer available. Does anybody know where I can find a used one or fabricate something to make it work? They are Mitsubishi 2WD 3 cylinder 91 or 92 flat beds. thanks, mike
addendum One truck has one, the other's is missing. I don't want to open the good one in case I break it. thanks
per a Mitsubishi's dealerships parts search lookup, LINK. Input MD167709 in the Mits search box half way down. The igniter has a price of $233. You may check localy.
Is there anyone out there that can help me out looking for the cumputer part number md167709 j3t01171. If someone is selling one cheap or can tell me a website it would help me out a lot thank u
Just stumbled across this thread. You might go to "go fast for less" website and do some reading about using the Chrysler unit to replace the igniter. If you can make it work for you, will only cost about 15 bucks. There are also so sites on the internet with info on how to use the General Motors unit to make things work, at about the same cost as the Chrysler unit. Do some serious searching to find. Fred
Any of the early years ones will be the same. Chrysler started using that system as an option in 1972 models and on all models in 73 so tell them you want the unit from a 74 and you should be good. Hope it will work for you, sure beats the other pricetag. Let us know how you make out, even if it doesn't work as all knowledge is welcomed. Did you also see the info on the GM HEI Unit ? Fred
Check out "direct fire" on google. People (me included) have removed the ignitor and run the distributer pickup directly to an MSD 6 box. The MSD fires the coil instead of the ignitor.
