I have a sambar with a very smokey EN07 engine .I have in the shed a EN08 engine ex subaru ace .I am about to remove the sambar engine to attempt to install the EN08 ,my first look into it has shown the intake manifolds are complete different patterns ,has anyone attempted the swap ?

so ,the cylinder head is mirror image fitted ,eg inlet & exhausts are oppersite sides ,along with other things .they say the bore size are the same ,so my guess is they may share the same blocks.plan to remove the EN08 head first ,then sambar engine ,plan at the moment is to attempt the EN08 block in the sambar with the EN07 cylinder head .that failing maybe a piston swap

pulled the head off the EN08.completely different gasket to that for a EN07 . 56mm pistons tho as the EN07 has.next move is strip the EN08 head to get the valve stem seals ,then source some of them .bang a new set in my sambar.failing that .a lazy in place 2nd hand piston swap

I think you're in uncharted territory here. Post some pictures, it sounds neat!

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I am importing a Sambar with the EN07 and was curious about swapping the crankshaft, rods, and pistons with an EN08.

Did you end up swapping things out?
