I have a Daihatsu Hijet S110W its not the mini truck but its like a mini van with a bed. The transfer case is not engaging when the 4wd button is pushed on the dash board. The little 4wd icon lights up like its engaged but the front wheels do not pull. Has anyone else experienced this condition and if so HEEELLLLPPPPPP.....

check the actuator for the front diff. and the transfer case..more than likely a vacuum leak or a rusty actuator arm pin...the front diff actuator is accessable from the drivers side under the front seat..to the left and in front of the rad...a small roundish thingy attached to the fron differential with 2 rubber vacuum lines on it...you can see if it is moving when you hit the 4wd button..there is a small cotter pin in it and that can easily rust and get sticky....the exact same actuator is also on the rear/top of the transfer case...check them both

Ok, I just checked underneath the drivers seat and when i mash the button it clicks underneath the passenger seat. Where its clicking it looks like a little relay. What should the actuator your talking about look like? I dont see anything that would look like it would move when I mash the switch. All I hear is a clicking sound. All I see is vaccum lines and a little black round thing that looks like a little filter and this is tied to the relay with wires. It clicks but thats it.

I think fupabox is thinking about how a Daihatsu s83p is sat up. The s110 deck vans should have a internal actuator. You cant see it move. Bout all you can do is put your hand on it and feel it
engage. But like fupabox did say most likely you have a vacuum leak in either of the two lines that are attached to that little black round thing(actuator). Pretty common in these trucks when it doesnt go into 4x4 when you push the button. After all the lines are 15+ yrs old.

Thank u trax and horns for your information you sent me. You are exactly right i think fupabox was thinking of a different model but i appreciate his help also.
Once i replace the vacum line should i be able to hear the 4wd engage? What is the round piece on the right side of the transfer case with vacum lines running to it? So it cud be as simple as replacing all the vacum lines to make it start working?

I would look at the vacuum lines where they make a turn first.. Often times if its a vacuum leak it will be on the outside part of the line where it turns. Over time they get brittle and crack.
The other place will be where the line slips over the nipple. Ive been lucky over the yrs. and never had to replace a relay or actuator. It would be highly unlikely its one of those but possible.
You can hear the actuator on the s83's if your head is down there but the s110 trucks or deck van you wont hear it. You can feel it though by putting your hand on it while pushing the 4x4 button.
The actuator is the thing that the two lines are going to on the diff.

I pulled the vacuum lines off my front diff. Can't figure out where they go back on the truck. Any help?

Go to minitruckcentral.com and see if there is a schematic.

It maybe one of the switches attached to the actuator. If I remember there are two. Should have 4 lines, two to each vacuum switch. Take a picture of how its hooked up from factory or tag the lines with different colors. Swap the vacuum lines and see if the front diff. locks in. If it does one of the vacuum switches is bad.

Do you know how the electrical current flows on the vacuum switches if it's front to back or back to front to the back the back switches get hot after a little bit I don't know if this is one problem.
