Greetings, all. At the moment I only have a macro-truck. My in-laws have a few hundred acres that we hunt on, and it's about time I get my own vehicle to take out into the woods hunting, and also the rest of the year for all the other chores we have to do on the land.

Everyone else has regular old 4-wheeler or Polaris Ranger. After seeing what these cost new (and even used ones), and comparing to specifications on a mini truck, I find it hard to justify buying a Ranger over a mini truck, especially since in Oklahoma I believe once registered/tagged/insured they are legal on everything except interestates. The only negative I can find is that I would have to teach my wife to drive a manual transmission and likely have to put up with righthand drive, but she could probably get away with only using one forward gear & reverse and get over the righthand drive.

Anyway, I'm hoping to soak up some knowledge here to educate myself before buying one. I'm obviously too cheap to buy a new one, so I would like to learn all I can about common problems, cost and availability of parts, differences between makes and models (and years) and things of that nature. I've done a lot of my own automobile work since I was a kid so I'm not too afraid to do repair work on these aside from work that requires special tools. Once I do get one I expect to spend a lot of time here!

And now we're 3 paragraphs into an intro.... thanks for reading.

Welcome aboard. You can learn a lot just by lurking & reading, but if you have a ? about something don't be afraid to ask as there are a lot of helpful folks on here.

Look around this site and absorb, you can learn alot. I did for a year before I bought my truck, no regrets whatsoever.
