I have two rust free Chevy LUVS. 75 and 77. The 75 needs a trans and engine and likely so does the 77. The 77 has a running drive train but the PO stripped the smog equipment off which is NLA new OR used. Strong motor but with a 45 DGOE Weber side draft that needs jetting work. It sputters on transition from idle to WOT. Typical Weber...

So, what modern engine and trans will fit in the engine bay(s) without much cutting or welding besides engine mounts and such?

I have done 4 t0 6 and V8 conversions in Porsche tubs but never on an import truck. I have a full set of tools and a welder setup, Argon wire fed 220v, yada yada....

Who has been there done that? A cheap V8 wreck with a Turbo 400 swap would be nice.....V6, Subie Roo, whichever.

Have been a lot of Chevy Vortex V6 into the small imported pickups over the years. Very plentiful and a good reliable engine & drivetrain. I believe the Chevy V8 is a bit too long, it can be done with some serious firewall hacking. Good luck. This site does cater more to the Mini Mini pickups than the standard mini pickups which were imported into the states prolificly from the 60s through the 80s. I owned several Datsuns, Toyptas and Isuzus over the years. The Chevy Luv was actually a rebadged Isuzu pickup.
