I have a 1990 s83p 4 speed, pretty basic, no lockers, dump or scissor lift. Needed a clutch when I got it, replaced all of that, changed all the fluid, in the process of a brake change, tire change (26-9x12 26-11x12), changing coil springs (300lb), adding an add a leaf in the rear that I got from rough country. I've seen a little on here how people are dropping their front differential & control arms, not many pictures. I'm thinking of dropping engine, transmission & transfer case down a little with thicker bolt through bushings, that seems to be the majority of what the mounts are. I know I'll need square tubing to drop the control arms. I'm aware I will probably have to re route cables, replace vacuum lines etc. Also, has anyone ever considered separating the cab and bed on these trucks? Due to articulation & what not the cab has cracks above the door. I was thinking if it were separated like a regular truck it may articulate better and stop the cracking. Any info/input is welcomed, thanks guys.

Well since this is of no interest to anyone I will not continue posting info about this build.

I wouldn't say that nobody has interest in this... I myself am interested in seeing what you come up with. Keep in mind that this isn't the most heavily trafficked website, and the number of people that regularly check it is fairly small. it seems to me that people tend to post more often in the colder months when they start having issues with their trucks starting and running properly due to the cold weather. A lot of us will read a post, not necessarily respond, and continue to watch it as it progresses. Personally, I haven't been on this site for a few months, and didn't post anything then... Trust me, we all wanna see others build cool shit!

I'll second that thought. Even though I will not do some of the mod's that others have done, it is interesting to see & hear of what others have done to these little Gems of vehicles. I check on here most every day but I am retired and have the luxury of having the time to do so. I have had no dealings with the first post's situation so have remained quiet, but interested and I am sure there are others the same. This is a relatively small community but most are interested in what others are doing and there may be some lurkers besides the ones registered too. Please continue on.

    Yep we're definitely reading. .

  6. I have nothing to offer on this subject but am very interested to see if it is possible to separate the cab and bed. I would like to be able to remove the bed on my jumbo to work on the engine.

So I see that this is an old post but I am interested in hearing if you lifted your mini truck like you were talking about.. I was thinking about doing the same with mine.
Ive been thinking about doing a crazy six inch lift on mine while keeping the correct cv joint geometry in the front end. Paco

You could drop the entire drivetrain down, including the front differential carrier, engine and tranny, and the rear differential.

I’m considering dropping the front differential carrier on my S100. Biggest hesitations I have, is how to lengthen the steering column from the lower u-joint and the rack. The rack mounts to the differential carrier, and will drop with it, and thus keep the steering geometry right. Anyone have a rack that is out so you can measure the diameter of the input shaft, and the spline count and type?

Second one, is: the tiny trucks don’t have a lot of torque or horsepower so dropping things to fit a larger tires that I can’t turn doesn’t sound like the best of ideas to me.
