    Hey there,
i am a NOOB and have been lurking in the shadows for a few weeks trying to figure this out.
I have a wrecked 96 V45 Magna that runs great that I was looking to put the engine into my '91 Mitsubishi
Mini. I have seen a few guys here put a motorcycle engine in a mini but it appears they end up using the bike trans to shift and scrapping out the truck trans. My question is:
-Is there any reason you cant use the clutch on the bike, leave it in a selected gear, and couple to the truck tranny so as not to loose reverse and 4x4. What I am thinking is that as long as you clutch, the wheels wont know or care where along the driveline you engage/disengage. This seems to simple of a concept for me nt to be missing something obvious. Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    Ken

It's a good engine for the truck. All you need is skills and money.
You can keep the stock trans, but doing so will test the limits of both of the above.

The concept is simple; sure. What are you missing?
    The details.
They also relate directly to the limits of both of the above.
    Can it be done? Yes,

Are you going to do it?.....

The Magna has 76 hp at the rear wheels and 46 fps of tourqe. both should be able to move this truck well. What I can't find a spec. on is the truck and bike clutch pressure. The truck is a dry plate about 8" dia where the bike has a 4.5-5" multi-disc wet clutch. The surface area is much more on the magna so I am thinking that will work ok. Not running 1/4 mile drags with this. ld rather get a stock engine for it but the immediate budget is a little light. the engine that came with is the original but it has a broken rod and the cam journal is spun. Would the stock engine be fiscally rebuildable?

You can order a rod, you can repair a journal. Bring the head and cam to your local MS and explain the details.
Doing most of the work yourself, parts and repairs 50hr & $500 bucks.

The cool project, doing most of the work yourself, 500hr & $5000 bucks.
Clutch, HD springs for the pack, take it easy with the transitions, and it will last a long time.
Not to mention the fact that you would eliminate clutch fade due to water submersion, being a sealed section. AKA, it would love mud holes.
I'm sure there are a lot of benifits that you've never considered. It's just not an easy thing to do properly.

Anyone tell me the difference between the stock engine in my '91 minicab and the 3g83-051TV? This engine is stil in a Toro workman and running. Talked myself out of the Magna engine conversion (now if it was the v-65...)

You can always order a reverse gearbox, there is a place that makes them for about $1000.. specifically for making bike engines cars.

Can't remember the name of it though.

I would search google for the miata or cappucino with busa engine it is a very expensive and complicated build I thought aboutn it when they strated talking about making autocad ,custom milled transmission adaptor I knew it was big $$$ involved so i looked away in sadness.
