    This is how I usually end up researching stuff. I get a wiff of something, and like a dog, I run it down until I pass out, or smash the lap top. Done it; once.
    It's a sickness, it really is. Too bad it didn't involve exercise or high monetary value.

    So, I come across a thermal switch in my dad's junk pile, looks like a rad/fan switch. "Hey!, I need that!".
    I LOVE relay/switching logic systems. I could run a second cooling fan, maybe three, and I've been messing with the idea of blow vs suck through the rad at low-speed vs high-speed. Like relayed through the diff-lock system that already has a speed sensor, and auto-off system. Easily blow, auto-suck...

    So now I've lached onto temperature control winter vs summer. BIG difference! Always too hot in the summer, never hot enough in the winter.

    So, I got this switch, test it with a torch, works fine. N.O. on at high temp, But how high? The rim printing is "305" which can't be right. The other number is "AC71CB" which is not found on the net but gives multiple crosses to "EFE".
    They must have named that...later...right?

    If you've read the links, then you know what its all about, which I did, a long time ago, then forgot about. After a quick refresher, I thought wow, what a perfect little gizmo for winter ops on our little trucks. Good for better winter mileage for sure, but, if you've ever tried to start a small carbed engine in the dead of winter, a little manifold pre-heat goes a long way. Rockauto has the GMs pictured for about $30 bucks...go figure.

    Wouldn't it be nice though to find a design without the "mesh element". Maybe even in a single barrel style? AND a really small size...for a 660...yea!
    Getting a little selfish in my search, mounting for the 4-bolt S/C...

    Yes, they make that...:cool:

    97 Geo metro 3-banger.

    During my surfing, I did come across the GM TSV-4. Gotta be NPT, one way or another, it will work. Probly $10 bucks...:p

    Now back to summer ops the heat. Cu'z I just realized this myself...

    Once these trucks get in-country, the one thing everyone throws away is the in-line coolant switch for the carb coolant line pre-heat.

    Would Kind'a make sense to disconnect the 200 degree coolant lines from the manifold/carb...right...:frustration:

    So, I found this switch....a sickness I tell you...

    Cross-industry parts usage...

    Need to replace the heater core? Or just the fan? Maybe both. How about just adding a fan to the front of the radiator to reduce engine operating temp during the high heat of summer. Or even, for the lucky AC owners, that back rad under the bed just has to be swapped out.
    OEM, my truck has 3 rads and 3 electric fans.
    Performance vs price;

    Auto parts;
    Asian parts are way over priced, domestics are too big and still moderately priced.

    UTV/ATV parts;
    Outrageously priced. I hit a guy up on kijiji that wanted $250 for a used 700 commander fan! For the FAN!
    He says "Ya, but I payed $500". I check the dealer...$450...for the FAN!

    So, after I calmed down, I started searching for a large industry that uses the same technology. Rads and water with electric fans. Small to medium size HIGH performance (150+ CFM) @12vdc. And Reasonable prices, reasonable.

    Yes, they make that...

    Have a look around, about 500+ fans and 200 or so rads.

    LOL..you've been busy.. It's a sickness once it starts,and 6 hours later you have no clue what you were originally searching for..information is a drug :)

    Wish I would have found that fan site (hehe) when my rad fan burned out. Dad found a really close match in a parts yard but I don't remember what it was off of.

    Is it really a sickness when it actually benefits so many? Hahaha nice work by the way. I couldnt get a look at the top link ya posted. It said something about exceeding my limit to view it hahaha. The other one pulled up a search window. Tis all good. I saved the autozone search. Thats where i got my radiater fan. 12" for 30ish dollars. Even the plug that is on their fan was the right one. I just had to switch the wires cause when i hooked it up the fan pushed aire out the front of the truck hahaha. Im sure at low speed that would be perfect but get going a bit faster and watch out hahaha. So ive been thinking along the same lines as spanner......... Push vs pull for the direction of air flow depending on speed and load temp........all the good stuff. I thought abouy wiring the fan off a 3 position switch. Top being suck air threw the rad. Middle is off for when you accidently decide to see how far you can float across or threw a large body of water and bottom would be blow air out the front of the truck. In theory pulling more of the engine heat out at slow speed. Both directions would have to be wired using those cheap 7 dollar relays to avoid a wiring nightmare......... I also have 2 electric heaters set up on my mini truck for winter. One is in the lower radiater hose and the other is an oil pan heater. The oil pan heater i only use for a few minutes because they actually get too hot and can boil your oil. 10 to 15 min plugged in and she fires right up and warms up quickly even at 30 below
