I am in the middel of converting a vertical shaft lawn mower engine to a horizontal, I have done this a few times in the past, but this is the first time using an engine that has a breather in the case. I do not own a welder so I was wondering how I could go about sealing this 5cm dia hole?

This is a major change that you want to do. Theoretically it looks simple, but it needs a proper check and supervision. Contact some professional company before further going into it.

Im not to worried how long the engine will last, its already very old and i got t for free so if it blows up i could care less, im just looking for for a way to cover the hole with out a welder

sorry for the delay. here are two pics, one showing the hole from inside the case, the other showing the location behind the flywheel. 1.jpg 0.jpg

A little too small to see much, a larger pic would help but,

I'd say, "45gal drum bung", one to thread it, the other to install.
