My first guess would be to get to the seal from the outside. I just did a rear main seal on a Daihatsu. Popped it out with a small flat head and install the new one.
Yea, this should work. I just looked it up in my S81P service book. Pretty straight forward. Make your mark on the yoke and diff. Before removal, (use the mark when reinstalling) be sure to release the locking of the lock washer. Remove the diff. nut, pop out seal, install new seal, yoke, nut, torque to 137-177n-m(101-13 ft, lbs)
Torque on yoke nuts 39.2-53n-m(28.9-39 ft.-lbs)
Front and rear diff. lube API GL-5 front diff. sae80-90 wt, rear diff. sae 90wt
Trans. API GL-3 sae 80wt Cold area 75-85 or 75/90wt

Some people like to put the u joint/shaft back at the same spot. Sometimes I do mark the u joint if I think about it. Since marking the other stuff might as well mark the u joint.
Anything that will make a mark and not come off will work. You can use a hammer and a punch and make a few marks. If you want to use the paint pen.
Ask for a paint stick. Its a epoxy based pen. Salvage yards use them on pull off parts. Home Depot, Hardware Store ect. will have them.

Hummmmmm, good question. That has to be the difference. Locker or no locker. Call G and R Imports or Jeremy @ Mini Brutes.
