in sure this must be known to owners or mentioned before but i can’t seem to find an existing search thread for it but what is the correct engine oil to use on a 1998 registered Sambar? my vin starts with KV3
The manual calls for 10w30, but I find that 15w40 keeps its viscosity for the higher RPMs of these engines.
that’s great gents just ordered some castrol GTX anyone know the oil capacity? is there an info page on this web site for the vehicles ?
The capacity is 3 liters, which is just a little bit over 3 quarts.. but I throw 3x quart bottles in, and it is right smack in the middle of the range on my dipstick. There is the entire "reference" section in here that has a lot of specifications and cross references for the Sambar.. mostly for the 1990-1999 models: https://minitrucktalk.com/forums/subaru-sambar-references.32/
With a mobil1 M1 103 filter my carbureted one takes 2.5L, I usually get the 18L pails of 10w-30 or 15w-40 from wal mart for $40 you can get 7 oil changes out one bucket lol
Does that include a change of the filter? I should have noted that I always change my filter at every oil change, and I always use Subaru OEM filters. Mine is supercharged, but I believe that the carbed sump is the same size as the SC version. I sometimes forget that some people change their filter every other or every third oil change.
Yup always new filter, empty filter and new oil my 91 carbureted and 97 carbureted both take 2.5L to get to the full dipstick mark. SC models might use a bigger filter or have slightly larger capacity
