Hey folks, I just obtained this neat little van and the "clutch temp" light flashed at me a couple of times today. I was traveling about 60 km/hr and if slowed down, it went off. I stopped, and restarted the engine and it did not come back on. We just finished a 800 km trip on the weekend through the coastal montains and had no issues. What needs to be checked? I don't have complete service info on this van. Thanks
Hey Pat. The Subaru Justy forums have more good posts on troubleshooting / fixing the ECVT. Around here we just shake our heads and say 'shoudha bought a 5sp'.
Thanks for the info. I have been trolling these forums and suspected the brushes need attention. I called Japanoid and they suggested the same. Clean the brushes. They also said that 2 engine mounts need to be removed to get at the hatch. I will be having a closer look today. Great, grease up to my elbows, laying on my back, while oil drips on my face.........
Well I got the brushes out and they are clean. One of the brushes was worn about 1/4" more than the other, is this normal? They look as good as any motor brushes I have ever seen. Drove around for half a day with no issues. Then tonight the light came back on again. It blinked for a bit then went solid. If I stopped the car, it would start to blink once up to about 60 km/h. There was no slipping of the tranny. I checked and did not smell anything that was too hot. How do open the tranny fluid cap? I tried pulling and turning, but could not get it off. I did not want to force it. Thanks The next thing to do is check the fluid level. If that is ok I guess it will have to go to the shop.
