    Hello All,

Looking at importing another Japanese Truck but going full-size this time. Has anyone ever had any experience with the Mazda Bongo Brawny. The age range I am looking at right now is 1989-1995 and I was looking at ones with the 1.8L gas engine. Does anyone have any info on reliability and top vehicle speed for this pickup. Thanks Greatly

Greetings Reticent Sage. I have a 2002 Mazda Bongo, 1.8L gas engine, 80ish Hp. Not physically as big as the Brawny model but suits my needs. I have had my truck now for a year and a bit and it has given me no problems at all. I just replaced the drivers side ball joint this year that is all. I have had this truck through some -40C and it started fine, plugged in of course. I have had my truck up to 120kph without sensing much strain, I felt pretty sure it could climb to 130kph but had no reason to push it. I do feel the 80ish HP on hills as it can easily drop 10-15kph, just something that I must accept with a hot rod like this. I currently have it booked in to be completely bed-lined this July, I am looking to change the colour to army/khaki green. The only thing I wish I had done differently was hold out for a unit with AC, oh well...next time!:D
