Hello all! I am the owner of a 1993 Suzuki Carry Dump 4x4 (DD51B) with Axle Lock, Diff Lock and 4 speed transmission. I just got her titled and plated last week and am loving life in this thing. I have never seen another in Detroit aside from on a golf course. My interest started with wanting an unusual utility vehicle because I don't need a full size truck and just like to be different. First choice was a USPS mail truck. I discovered they are are 4 cylinder Chevy S10 (but right hand drive) with a custom Grumman box body. That plan didn't work out because I could not find any surplus auctions selling them. Somehow I ended up seeing this video: \ and was hooked on the concept. I like to make life difficult so I ordered mine from https://mitsuicoltd.com and used All Ways International Shipping (www.awis.us) as my broker. Both companies were great and i'd recommend them 100%. Had it shipped on a flatbed from Baltimore to my door in Detroit for $500. I spent about $4000 overall on purchase price and all the various fees. I hope to use it for garden projects, trips to the scrap yard/municipal dump, and hopefully attach a 4x4 plow to clean up surrounding streets when the city neglects us. Everything works as it should, but I could use a replacement floor for the bed as it is dipping and rusting through in a couple spots.
for a plow, I’ll recommend the black line electro-hydraulic, unit. I’ve got one for my Hijet, and it is an awesome small plow. Unlike most of the ATV/UTV plows, which control elevation with a winch, and blade screw manually, the Blackline is fully adjustable from the cab, and can generate about 600-lbs of down force. The downforce lets you break things loose that the winch run plows can’t touch because they float up and over it.
I really appreciate that tip, Jigs. I would never have considered that point as I have never plowed before.
